Barack Hussein Obama's administration finally responded to the outraged British press yesterday. The British complained that customary protocol was not followed by the Obama administration during Prime Minister Gordon Brown's visit last week.
In particular, they complained that the Prime Minister should have been granted "full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary." But this did not happen.
Then there were the tacky gifts that Mr. and Mrs. Obama gave to the Browns, which only added fuel to the fire.
The British conceded that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister. But whose job is it to make sure standard protocols are followed when foreign dignitaries are visiting?
Oh, yeah, that would be Desiree Rogers' job.
The Obama administration response yesterday to the drama building in London was one feeble excuse after another. They said Obama ignored protocol because he was too "tired" from working hard to fix the economy.
Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president’s surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.
I'm sure! Spending $2 trillion dollars of money we don't have, and doubling the national debt in 30 days, can be exhausting work! I guess Mr. Obama thought this job would be easy?
