Jennifer Hudson Calls Off Engagement

According to Star Magazine, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has called off her engagement to wrestler David “Punk” Otunga. Who didn’t see that one coming?

He loved her when she was thick but, due to her low self esteem, Jennifer couldn’t love herself enough to lose weight in moderation, through dieting and exercise. Instead, she chose to lose weight drastically through gastric bypass surgery (allegedly), and now she’s lost her man.

From Star Magazine:

After a three-year engagement, Jennifer Hudson has abandoned plans to walk down the aisle.

The American Idol alum, 30, and WWE star David Otunga – who have a 2-year-old son, David jr. – are on the outs, clashing over Jennifer’s career obsession, commitment issues and reluctance to have more children.

“They were going to tie the knot in August in Jennifer’s hometown of Chicago… but it’s not going to happen,” an insider reveals.

I don’t understand for the life of me why she would commit to marrying this man.

NY (Flavor of Love) said it best “He is an opportunist and my 3rd eye is telling me he don’t like my kind.”

Gay rumors always floated around him. And I beg to argue he saw her as a fat golden ticket. He didn’t want her anymore because she got smarter and her self-esteem increased when she dropped the weight.

He didn’t want to sign a prenuptial agreement which is always a prerequisite about your love for a person when money is concerned. Does she look like a cash cow (well maybe before).

I don’t blame Jennifer and am extremely happy she didn’t walk down the aisle without protecting her finances. Look at what happen for Heather Mill one leg and all)

Now that I think about it, I believe they only got engaged for the sake of appearances. She was something like a teen idol back in her American Idol Days and kids looked up to her in her (for being the big girl who did her thang and didnt care what others thought). They probably werent really “in love.”—They met, hooked up, she got pregnant, had a “oh shat now what do we do?” moment. So they pulled a Brandy and agreed to get “engaged.” Just didnt go as far as the marriage part….

I don’t agree totally; depending on the MAN and his moral fiber, what he aspires to become and the person he is. I refuse to place all men in the same category. I will give it to you that a certain group of men have some of the same characteristic’s they desire to do the bear minimum for themselves (same as women; groupies, h*e’s, gold diggers, etc.). The wanting to be rich and famous ideal resonates in men but not all are cut from that cloth.

He is a Lawyer by trade..so if he connected and networked during his time with her he can make his own $$$ in entertainment. AND as a Lawyer he definitely should have understood her wanting him to sign a pre nup! Any lawyer would recommend it…

Punk would need to provide evidence that she promised to take care of him and that he gave up his career to support J. Huds.
The law states he needs to provide a written (a contract and financial agreement,etc) or oral agreement (she doesn’t protest his claims)

well, like most people who spent their entire lives fat; once they lose the weight, they feel different and think they’re stock has risen drastically to a whole new class of people that would only point at laugh at them in life’s past. Jennifer vows to be one of those people now, and decided she wants no grown ass man who refers to himself as punk, chose wrestling over a legal career, AND refuse to sign a pre-nup.

I did look from you point of view and I do agree to some extent. She didn’t necessarily need to have low-self esteem just because she was thick. I mean she did snag an Oscar and she didn’t make it that far because she didn’t have confidence. In fact it took a multitude of esteem to carry the task to the end especially with the scrutiny she received from main stream media. See I am versatile.

No need for a long engagement, unless they are trying to break the bank for a expensive wedding. Stats have proven the longer one lives together before marriage, the higher chance of divorce, or the marriage will never happen.

Although Punk went the reality route (so did Jennifer for that matter) and wants to be a wrestler now, I can’t overlook the Harvard JD. That isht ain’t for dummies.
