The FBI is investigating a pair of South Carolina police officers to determine if they violated the civil rights of a black couple.

According to the NY Daily News, the FBI is among several federal agencies investigating the officers for conducting a road side cavity search on Elijah Pontoon, 40.

The incident occurred in October 2014 after Lakeya Hicks, 31, was pulled over by Aiken police for driving a new car with paper tags.

The male and female officers told Hicks they were searching for drugs. Pontoon, who was a passenger in the car, told the Associated Press the cops made him drop his pants and digitally probed his anal cavity in full view of passing motorists.

Hicks said her breasts were exposed by the female officer during her search.

The case received national attention after the dash camera video footage was circulated on social media recently.

When Pontoon objected to the harassment, the male officer told him, “You gonna pay for this one boy.”

The police later said they knew of Pontoon because of his prior drug arrests.

The couple filed a civil lawsuit against the Aiken police and the city.

The city stands by its officers, saying they did nothing improper.

“I felt very humiliated,” Hicks told the AP. “We don’t want this to happen to anybody else.”
