Pop singer and actress Janelle Monáe won the evening at the 2017 Met Gala Costume Ball, held in New York City on Monday, May 1. The theme of the evening was “Kawakubo Comme des Garcons Art of the In-Between” (whatever that means).

Janelle floated up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum Of Art looking like a work of art herself.

She absolutely stunned in a black & white couture halter gown with a feathered white tulle skirt and black & white bodice styled by Ralph & Russo from their Spring/Summer 2017 collection. She completed her look with jewelry on loan from Tiffany & Company’s flagship store.

No one else came close — although many tried, including Nicki Minaj (dressed in funeral attire again); Lupita Nyong’o (always impeccably dressed); and the tragic fail of the evening, singer Rihanna, who thinks she looks good in anything. Try again next year, girl!
