Waffle House statement

Waffle House released a statement claiming the woman who was arrested at an Alabama Waffle House last week made threats of violence to employees.

The Rev. Al Sharpton plans to host a town hall meeting in Mobile to discuss the arrest of Chikesia Clemons at a Saraland, AL Waffle House.

Video uploaded to social media shows several Saraland police officers hovering over Clemons on the floor. At one point she was choked by one officer who exposed her breasts as he manhandled her.

In a statement obtained by Channel 2 Action News on Monday, a Waffle House spokesman said:

“Previously, we stated that upon reviewing security video and eyewitness statement, it was our belief that our associates calling the police was necessary and appropriate. In the days since, we have gathered additional details and information, Witnesses say several threats were made to associate including threats of violence, and that’s why the police were called.”

Waffle House said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Last week, a shooting at a Tennessee Waffle House left 4 patrons dead and 4 wounded.

The statement comes on the same day that a group of activists planned to demonstrate outside the Waffle House headquarters in Norcross, Georgia.

#BoycottWaffleHouse Location: Saraland, Alabama. Read the story: At approximately 2:15am myself and my friend Chikesia Clemons enter the Waffle house and proceeded to dine in for food .. I then told this white Caucasian woman my order and ask could I have plastic utensils.. She then told me that it would be .50 cent . Lol I told her that I had just eaten there the night before and they didn’t charge me .50 cent and so on ..Shortly after and me my friend continued with our conversation and our rude ass waitress “Goldie” decided to put her two cents in on our conversation that had nothing to do ever th her .. I then read her rights and then canceled my order and walked out .. However my friend stayed behind to get a understanding while I waited outside only to have the cops called on her and to be treated this way .. After tonight I’m done with mobile police period ..I understand the priorities of them doing their job but tonight wasn’t it ..They made and me and friend feel unsafe and not welcome to the city of Saraland.
