Last week, multiple blogs and websites reported that DNA evidence cleared Charlamagne tha God of rape. But the actual report shows no DNA testing was ever performed.
Jessica Reid was only 15 when she claims Charlamagne, real name Lenard McKelvey, plied her with alcohol and raped her at a house party.
The 40-year-old radio jock was arrested on July 2, 2001 and charged with “willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously engage in penile/vaginal intercourse with a fifteen year old female child.”
McKelvey took a plea deal and the case was closed after Reid stopped cooperating with police.
Reid, now 32 and a mother of four, asked the prosecutor’s office to reopen her rape case, but her request was denied.
Last week, several blogs reported that McKelvey was “cleared” of any wrongdoing since his DNA was not found in the victim.
But a 2 page report published by @thestarreport shows blood and saliva evidence collected from the victim in a rape kit were never analyzed for DNA.
No semen was found in the victim’s body or on her clothing, which is consistent with the rapist using a condom.
Additionally, fingernail scrapings taken from the victim did not reveal any evidence of serological value and was never analyzed for DNA.
The report does not indicate whether blood or saliva were collected from McKelvey.
Social media users are accusing McKelvey of twisting the facts in the case.
