Some may think of Cardi B as an unintelligent ratchet rapper who is not well-versed on current events, but she has dominating the headlines and cable news programs all week after speaking out against President Donald Trump’s partial government shutdown, which is in its 27th day.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, Cardi, who was born Belcalis Almanzar, ranted about the government shutdown and she urged her 39 million followers to take action.
“I just want to remind y’all, because it’s been a little over three weeks. Trump is ordering and summoning federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid,” the 26-year-old Bronx rapper said.
“Now, I don’t want to hear y’all muthaf*****s talk about ‘Obama shut down the government for seventeen days. Yeah, for health care! So your grandma could check her blood pressure.”
“Our country is in a hellhole right now, all for a f***ing wall. I feel like we need to take some action. I’m scared. This is crazy. And I really feel bad for these people that gotta go to f*****g work to not get muthaf*****g paid.”
In related news, President Trump waited until Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and other high ranking Democrats boarded a bus to the airport to inform them that their 7-day excursion to Europe, Africa and the Middle East was cancelled.
Pelosi and about two dozen lawmakers sat fuming on an Air Force bus while aides frantically called the Pentagon and White House to confirm that their trip was really canceled.
Witnesses say the bus circled the Capitol building several times before it finally pulled up to the Capitol and let the passengers off. Military officers carried Pelosi’s baggage back inside the Capitol building and left them on a cart in the hallway outside her office.
The spat between Trump and Pelosi began when she tried to cancel his State of the Union Address on Thursday. She claimed the President couldn’t speak to the nation because there weren’t enough Secret Service agents during the shutdown. But the Secret Service disputed her claim.
In a letter to Pelosi on Thursday, Trump canceled Pelosi’s publicly unannounced trip, saying 800,000 workers were not being paid, so she needed to stay home to negotiate the funding of the border wall to end the shutdown.

Petty Trump told Pelosi she could still fly to Europe – on a commercial airliner.
The President also noted that the Democrats have partied in Hawaii and in Puerto Rico during the government shutdown – all on the taxpayers’ dime.
