As promised, Drake delivered his new album, Certified Lover Boy, without much fanfare or bizarre stunts.

The 34-year-old rapper dropped his first full length release since Scorpion in 2018 – on Friday – almost a year late due to the pandemic.

Standout collabs on the album include rappers Jay Z and mumble rapper Travis Scott.

CLB also includes features with Giveon, Lil Durk, Kid Cudi, Future, Yebba, Young Thug, Lil Baby and 21 Savage.

On “Fair Trade,” Drake and Travis seek loyalty from women in their lives and they don’t mind losing friends to achieve loyalty.

“I don’t know who love me, but I know that it ain’t everybody
I can never love her, she a busy body
Baby, if you want me, can’t be turnin’ up with everybody, nah

Can’t be f*ckin’ on just anybody, yeah
I got feelings for you, that’s the thing about it, yeah
You know that it’s somethin’ when I sing about it, yeah.”

In a post on his Instagram Stories, the rapper described his sixth album as, “A combination of toxic masculinity and acceptance of truth which is inevitably heartbreaking.” He also dedicated the album to late Instagram models Nadia Ntuli and Mercedes Morr who both died this year.

Ahead of the release of the record, Drake’s mom Sandi Graham sent him sweet and encouraging notes.

Her message on Tuesday, Aug, 31, reads:

“To: Lover Boy Three days more we’re counting down, for us to hear the best. Everyone’s excited, cause you’re nothing like the rest. Three more days my pookaroo I couldn’t be more proud of you! Loving mom.”
