Pres. Joe Biden will unveil his “robust” 6-pronged strategy to combat the coronavirus and boost vaccinations on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Biden is expected to detail his new strategy as cases of Covid-19 delta and Mu variants surge across the country.

The White House announced the planned speech on Tuesday, saying Biden will address Americans on the next steps to contain the coronavirus variants.

“On Thursday the president will speak to the American people about his robust plan to stop the spread of the delta variant and boost vaccinations,” the White House said in a statement.

“As the president has said since day 1, his administration will pull every lever to get the pandemic under control,” a White House official said on Tuesday. “On Thursday, the president will lay out a six pronged strategy that will help us do just that, working across the public and private sectors.”

The announcement sparked speculation that the U.S. will go back under lockdowns or impose forced mandatory vaccines.

About 650,000 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in the U.S. since early 2020, according to Fox News. The U.S. leads the world in both Covid-19 cases and deaths.
