Tyrese Gibson and his ex wife Samantha Lee Gibson were back in an Atlanta courtroom on Monday, August 29. Tyrese asked a judge to deny Samantha’s request for $20,000 a month in child support.
The singer/actor cried that the $20,000 monthly figure was “unreasonably high”. He is also seeking joint physical and legal custody of their three-year-old daughter Soraya Lee Gibson.
Tyrese and Samantha broke up in 2020 after three years of marriage. They have been battling over child support and spousal support ever since.
The judge asked Tyrese to explain certain extravagant expenditures he boasted about on social media, such as his claim that he bought an island.
The “Fast & Furious” star also bragged about buying a Rolls Royce for his eldest daughter, Shayla Gibson‘s 15th birthday.
But in open court, Tyrese admitted he only imagined owning an island — he can’t actually afford a private island.
As for that Rolls Royce, Tyrese admitted he only leased the Rolls Royce for his daughter’s birthday party. He returned it to the car lot the next day.
Shayla is Tyrese’s daughter by his ex-wife Norma Gibson.
Tyrese’s attorney grilled Samantha about her excessive expenses, including $1,740 in one month for cosmetics.
Tyrese is set to take the stand on Tuesday, August 30.
