Mystery surrounds the armed robbery of Atlanta-based rapper and cancer survivor J Money.

J Money was robbed and shot 6 times while sitting in a Rolls-Royce in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, California on Friday, Nov. 18.

Police say J Money, real name Jermaine Miller, was robbed and shot while sitting in a Rolls-Royce Phantom owned by a member of the Korean royal family, Andrew Lee.

Los Angeles Police Department officials say J Money was sitting in the car parked outside the luxury Kurve apartment building at the corner of Wilshire and Hoover in Los Angeles, when a gunman approached and demanded his jewelry.

The gunman shot J Money 6 times and took his Rolex watch as well as three diamond chains, worth $250,000. J Money is in critical condition at an L.A. hospital.

It is unknown if J Money rented an apartment at the building where he was robbed and shot.

A 3,755 sq. ft. penthouse apartment at Kurve on Wilshire rents for $27,227 a month and features floor-to-ceiling windows.

According to Fox News, the Rolls-Royce, valued at more than $600,000, was registered to Lee, a crown prince of Korea’s royal family.

It is unknown if Lee was in the Rolls-Royce or who was driving at the time of the robbery. Lee and his family live in a mansion in Thousand Oaks, California.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, J Money flosses his iced out Rolex and the Rolls-Royce he was shot in.

On June 22, J Money shared a video on his Instagram page that showed him in a hospital bed recovering from cancer surgery.

He captioned the video: “Thank y’all so much for all your prayers ALL THE CANCER OUT LOVE YALL NOW 2 weeks of recovery.”

J Money was considered part of the “New Atlanta” movement of rappers which included Rich Homie Quan, Future, and the Migos. The “New Atlanta” movement of rappers came to prominence in 2009-2014.
