More signs are emerging that NeNe Leakes is in financial trouble. The ex-RHOA cast member was sued in August for unpaid rent on her now shuttered Swagg Boutique in Lawrenceville, Ga.
According to court papers obtained by RadarOnline.com, NeNe is accused of failing to show up to court despite being served with a summons.
RadarOnline.com learned that the former landlord, MPG-Sugarloaf, demanded a default judgment against NeNe for ignoring the summons.
In the court documents, MPG-Sugarloaf claimed NeNe signed a lease in 2017 and then extended it for a year in 2021.
NeNe vacated the property in January 2022 but allegedly failed to pay the $22,900 she owed in past due rent.
The landlord said NeNe failed to respond to the lawsuit by the deadline of September 18. As a result, the company wants the court to grant a default judgment in the amount of $22,900.75 plus attorney fees of $2,315 and another $416 for court costs, Radar Online reported.
NeNe has ignored other lawsuits including one filed by an Atlanta photographer. She was found in default and ordered to pay just over $1,000 in that case.
NeNe has had financial trouble since her husband, Gregg, died from cancer in Sept. 2021. NeNe was left with a stack of unpaid bills and other debt.
NeNe and Nyonisela Sioh, the guy she was dating while Gregg was sick, reportedly split in June 2023 after dating for over 2 years.
She probably hoped dating a successful businessman like Sioh would be the end of her money worries.
