Porsha Williams’s husband Simon Guobadia is fighting potential deportation back to Nigeria.

According to court documents obtained by All About The Tea, Simon’s immigration status is in jeopardy. He is facing deportation because he was involved in numerous financial crimes.

Simon’s criminal record includes credit card fraud and felony charges dating back to the 1980s.

Simon, 59, arrived in the United States on a visitor’s visa in the 1980s. He overstayed his visa but tried to gain citizenship by marrying a United States citizen.

However, the Immigration and Naturalization Service determined the marriage was not real, and they initiated deportation proceedings.

Simon voluntarily left the US, but he returned to New York on a six-month visitor’s visa.

During his second entry into the United States, Simon was arrested on bank and credit card fraud charges.

Again he faced felony charges, prompting the United States to initiate deportation proceedings for a second time.

According to Yahoo! News, Simon allegedly obtained a green card using a fake identity.

He applied for a Special Agricultural Worker immigration program and failed to reveal his criminal history. The green card was approved, which allowed him to stay in the United States under a false identity.

Simon tried to apply for citizenship status. However, the government refused to approve his application. They said “his temporary resident status was unlawfully granted.”

Court documents show that his first application for citizenship was denied back in July 2022. He filed again in March 2023, and asked the government to “vacate the denial.”

A third application for citizenship was also denied, as deportation proceedings continue.

Simon is the ex-husband of reality television star Falynn Guobadia.

He married RHOA star Porsha Williams in 2022. He has eight children from past relationships.

Since Simon is in the United States, his immigration status will likely play out on The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s upcoming season 16.

Filming is expected to begin soon.
