Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams and Queen Latifah lend their voices to the chorus of Shonda Rhimes supporters who object to a recent NY Times article that labeled Rhimes an “angry black woman.”

Jesse Williams returns to The Queen Latifah Show Thursday and in talking about the upcoming new season of Grey’s Anatomy, he and Queen took a moment to discuss the recent NY Times article which referred to the show’s producer and creator Shonda Rhimes as an “angry black woman”… both had a LOT to say on the matter…
Jesse Williams: “This person knows zero about Shonda Rhimes… and what’s interesting and why I hesitate to even give this person any time or energy, is that its boring… it’s the same stuff over and over again.”
Queen Latifah: “I got bored by being offended…”
Jesse Williams: “As if a woman having a spine or passion or being able to speak back to male figures is somehow a drag? What’s the problem there…it’s silly. Do you know how many characters Shonda Rhimes has created?…iconic, iconic characters, and how diverse they are? Grey’s Anatomy is the most incredible example of how its perfectably doable to have a diverse cast of people who are representing themselves and are whole human beings, and are not demonstratively Black or Asian, or female or Latino…just people being people”

We will have obstacles; like this article illustrates. The world doesn’t see enough intellectually straight minded Africans descendants, America or otherwise. When we make that change, the world will shift in favor of us all…. Stop blaming, stop expecting charity, and assume the role of competing intellectually—this generation or the next.

The powers that run the world are really running the world…but yet they are still human beings. We have to stop thinking these shadow figures are untouchable. You’re right, we can’t keep beating our heads of a brick wall…we’ve been doing that since after the Civil Rights. To make this Presidency make since, a full shift in our identity has to happen. The shift has to happen soon, in large numbers, in Beyoncé Jay-Z type numbers—to really have an effect. People can make the news and paint you blue all day, but when people actually see that youre not blue, and see that the “powers who produce” are lying, then balance of power will shift and the shadows will take shape… I don’t know. Maybe I’m too inter loopy.

The author tried to claim the article was intended to praise Shonda. Most backhanded compliment ever. Black women across the world felt the sting from that back hand. Almost put Serena William’s to shame. Sheesh
NYT came up with every excuse they could. We don’t have many Black people on staff. Reason we don’t have many Black people is because we don’t have the money

Tried to say the author was breaking stereotypes down, but really she propped them up like their name was Sarah Baartman.White bishes really irk me at times. Lol I’m not musty I swear!!!! I don’t make excuses. That’s why my old tail is back in school moving on to a new career and returning to my educational roots. I want to be able to help children who would otherwise be written off by society. Let them know that they don’t have to be of the environment they’re from. That doesn’t mean being angry all the time though. That’s the way to wear yourself down and give up. I choose my battles. Right now it’s getting a couple more degrees so I can advance myself and then give back in a more constructive manner. You do you and I’ll do me. I have no problems with that.

My husband who has multiple degrees, interviewed internally for a position. I just discussed with my mom the other day that the n word doesn’t hurt or phase me when a white person says it. I even feel bad for them that that’s the hardest they can come. My issue is my a-hole professor that mentions “the blacks” I class all the time, or the idiot director who refused to hire me after recruiting me heavily for a job I didn’t even apply for once she saw I was black. That is what pisses me off and I can’t change that. Just count my blessings that I was saved from working with an idiot and know that I will ace that professor’s class and move on. I pick my battles.

It’s not that “straight minded Africans descendants, America or otherwise” don’t exist everywhere. I know many. It’s that the media does not showcase us. So…the general population only knows what it sees on TV which we all know is the negative predominantly. As someone pointed out…we work with the general population everyday yet many still choose to see us as the stereotype. Don’t discount the effects of 500 or so years of negative propaganda re Black people on the wider population. We’ve been shifting since the end of slavery and we’ve had to battle and die for change, remember that…so it’s not as simple as you outline. We persevere and continue on our path despite the discrimination. We are a strong people. Carry on.
We can keep making excuses, and keep saying “they–>they–>they” but when HBCU’s start producing renowned inventors, and engineers, and scientist, and physicist, that compete—and who are able to overcome continual obstructions—then we’ll ok we can relax. But we don’t have room to relax. At some point we’ll get bored with being the bottom stock of this world. Remember, no African nation has a nuclear bomb—so when it’s all said and done wil be victims (like we’ve been for centuries) or will we wake up and compete and learn to at least survive the nuclear holocaust.

The timing of this is interesting given the fact that today I had to give a brief presentation to our board. Major CEOs yaddah yaddah yaddah. So before the meeting started one of the top execs and Dir of Legal came up to me and goes “so wow look at you here presenting.” I was like I know I was appreciative of the opportunity. She said “I know it’s a very big deal. You are before THE BOARD. We normlg you don’t do this.” So I jokingly replied I owe it all it you right? she goes
“oh no that was all (big boss) she wanted you here…. It’s a lot to live up to.” And she made a face like if you fail it will be noted and expected.

Bring to boil Medium high 3 cups of water
Add following items
½ tablespoons of thyme
½ tablespoons of sage
½ tablespoons of rosemary
1 teaspoon of kosher or sea salt
1 tablespoon of dried chicken cubes (stock)
Half of diced onion
1 20 oz can of diced tomatoes
And 6 roma tomatoes diced
1 heaping tablespoon of crushed garlic
2 shakes of red pepper flakes
Cook for 45 minutes on low heat
Then add
1 bag of frozen veggies “carrots, green beans and corn
Bear creek soup starter and another 6 cups of water
Bring to Boil again and simmer for another 45 minutes

I’m absolutely passionate about making sure that all children have the same opportunities and access to care. Who said anything about making excuses. Who says we are at the bottom though? I know that I am not at the bottom. You are buying in to the stereotype. There are many Black scientists, inventors, graduate degree holders around. You just don’t see them front and center. You have many examples, see comments on this story, of obstacles people face. Not one person said that these obstacles are going to stop them from achieving. We are soldering on despite this reality.

Shonda is one of the few creators/producers who have had almost all their sitcoms and dramas be successful and have longevity in Hollywood, shoot Steven Spielberg couldnt get more than 3 seasons for his shows. Only people that have rival Shonda’s talent is Aaron Spelling, and that Josh dude. The writer was spewing her hate cause shes one of those rejected screenplay writers that had no choice but to pen a piece or two for a paper or magazine. The writer and her yt counterparts were just mad that when you look back at some of Tvs greatest creator theres a black female who is easily in the top 5 if not top 3 and she happens to be black.

Bama at this here job I’m the token. I know it and I make sure they know it. I’m smart as a whip and came in to do one thing and less than 4 years 4 positions higher and didn’t have to do one. 1 Egg, beaten
1 cup Ritz Crackers, crushed
1 tsp. Yellow Mustard
2 tbsp. Fresh Lemon Juice…
2 tbsp. Fresh Parsley, chopped
1 tsp. Old Bay Seasoning
1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
Place crabmeat in a mixing bowl, picking any stray shell fragments out. Add crushed crackers, Old Bay Seasoning & parsley to the crab. In a separate bowl, combine egg, mustard, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Whip with a whisk until smooth. Pour egg mixture over the crabmeat and crackers and gently mix careful not to break up large lumps of crabmeat. Mold into golfball sized balls and place on a cookie sheet. Bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Drizzle w/ melted butter and allow to cool.

(CNN) – Ferguson, Missouri, Police Chief Thomas Jackson issued a video apology Thursday to the parents of Michael Brown, as well as to any peaceful protesters who feel he didn’t do “enough to protect their constitutional right to protest.”
Specifically, he apologized that it took investigating officers four hours to remove Brown’s body from the street after Officer Darren Wilson fatally shot him last month.
“I’m truly sorry for the loss of your son. I’m also sorry that it took so long to remove Michael from the street,” he said.
While investigators were doing important work, trying to uncover the truth and collect evidence during those four hours, “it was just too long, and I’m truly sorry for that,” Jackson said.
The town was cast into the national spotlight when protests erupted following Wilson’s shooting of the 18-year-old Brown.
The demonstrations quickly devolved into looting, vandalism and violence but eventually calmed. The St. Louis suburb of 21,000 erupted again this week after one of three Brown memorials at the site of the shooting burned.
While many peaceful protesters took to the street Tuesday night, violent elements within the demonstration stoked chaos, attacking police with guns, rocks and bottles and vandalizing and looting businesses, Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson said. One person threw a Molotov cocktail at a parking structure, and there was an attempt to set a gasoline fire at a custard shop, he said.
Two officers were injured, one of whom was struck by a rock below the eye, Johnson said.
While Johnson promised police would protect public safety as well as the freedoms of speech and expression, he warned that police would have no choice but to respond to any violent actions.

Paul George spent months marketing himself as PG-13 leading up to his jersey number switch from 24 to the world’s unluckiest number last month, but the Indiana Pacers star is reportedly proving worthy of the MPAA’s “parents strongly cautioned” warning for different reasons.

A Manhattan judge blasted George for his role in an ongoing paternity petition, falling just short of calling the injured All-NBA selection a “deadbeat dad,” even if the New York Post didn’t.
“Even though it is all but certain that (George) is the father of the 5-month-old baby girl at the center of this case,” Justice Matthew Cooper writes, “he has gone to every length imaginable to avoid taking responsibility for his actions.”

“It is beyond comprehension how (George) could vouch for his skill at caring for the child while disparaging (Rajic’s) abilities when he has never even seen the child, asked to see the child, or offered to provide for the child’s needs,” Cooper huffs in the 10-page decision.
Naturally, George’s lawyers took issue with the judge’s portrayal of the matter. “Paul is a good kid and he’s far away from being a deadbeat dad,” attorney C. Anthony Mulrain told the Indianapolis Star. “What deadbeat dads do is run away from their responsibilities. (George) is trying to embrace them.”
When Daniela Rajic first filed the legal matter in Manhattan Supreme Court during the Eastern Conference finals this past May, citing a private paternity test allegedly confirming George as the father of her child, her lawyers told the New York Daily News that George had met the baby and paid Rajic’s medical bills.
George’s legal team attempted to move the trial to Florida, where the two met, and requested a court-ordered second paternity test to confirm Rajic’s claim, according to the Indianapolis Star. If confirmed, George reportedly seeks sole custody of the child, a notion with which this judge seemingly wouldn’t side.
This is only the latest unfortunate offseason news to involve George. He suffered a horrific right leg injury in a Team USA scrimmage on the first of August, and just two weeks ago he supported Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice on Twitter with a series of controversial statements about a woman’s role in cases of domestic violence — which look even worse in light of Judge Cooper’s latest determination.
Despite the injury that could sideline George for an entire NBA season, Cooper isn’t letting the Pacers wing use his leg surgery as an excuse for missing a court appearance last month, claiming it didn’t prevent him from being “able to attend press conferences, travel for recreation and ride in his new Ferrari.”
George is scheduled to appear in a New York court next month. So much for lucky number 13.
