A high school girls basketball coach was suspended for 2 games for his stunning lack of good judgment and poor sportsmanship after his team defeated another school by the score of 161-2.
If Coach Michael Anderson had it to do all over again he probably would’ve sat his starters at halftime when the score was 104-1.
“The game just got away from me,” Anderson told the San Bernardino Sun. “I didn’t expect them to be that bad, I’m not trying to embarrass anybody. And I didn’t expect my bench to play that well. I had one player make eight of nine 3s.”

I’m curious as to why they were even matched up to each other. I know HERE the games are usually matched by not only people in your size division but your ability level. Certain teams don’t play these literally losing teams because of stuff like this.

I agree with both both points of view. When it became clear that they had already “won” it could have been called. I’m pretty sure the team that didn’t win already knew this based on the number of donuts on the scoreboard. I believe it’s moreso they got kicked while they were already down. There is something to be said of someone who has the upper hand, yet still leaves their opponent with their dignity intact. JMO….no judgment on anybody’s perspective.
On the flip side, this overall experience can aid them in having tougher skin too.

I can see them working on fundamentals while the rest of the game was going on, but how long would that take. Then you putting in your bench players and visibly disregarding that another team is playing by working on fundamentals would have had a negative effect with the other team also. So it would have had to be stopped to avoid anything

So because the officials didn’t call it were the girls suppose to just dribble up and down the court for the second half? I would hope that they ran the time off the clock with each possession, but how long can you really do that. They would haev just had to sit on the bench. I play softball and if our score gets out of hand we slow down, but really how much can you do besides walk off the field? Some people can have home runs but stop at first base. If the other team can’t stop a ball or get an out, are you supposed to just walk up to them and tag yourself? then the game becomes a pity game and noone likes to feel as if they are playing a pity game.

By now, most of them have been playing sports for years and have already developed a positive attitude that all athletes should have. They are past the level of “playing for fun” they are competing for college scholarships, letters, scouts, etc etc. This is not fun to them anymore. Im anemic with a b12 deficiency….. I was eating ice like crazy had to have it every day..when i laid down at night my heart would be beating fast and a whooshing sound in my ears. Also rls leggs jumping and tingling like crazy…then one day i noticed my skin was lemon yellow that the main b12 symptom the normal irom measurement is 15…i was at 9. im glad my cravings didnt progress to that point.. Ice was as far as it went after i took the pills for about a week the cravings went away.. Pregnant women have those cravings too..it a whole lot of folks online eating clay starch etc….
ive had it with this “everybody is a winner” mentality. it does nothing but breed adults who embody an air of entitlement because they’ve not had to learn to deal with disappointment. that coach should NOT have been suspended for coaching to success. i hope the losing team will let this propel them toward success one day too.
