Around 180 guests attended the storybook wedding of NFL star Devon Still and homemaker Joyce Asha at the NY Public library on Friday.
The couple put their wedding plans on hold after Devon’s daughter, Leah Still, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer in 2014.
Joyce, who is not Leah’s mom, remained quietly in the background as Leah and Devon’s heartwarming story made headlines all over the world 2 years ago.
When they made it through the storm, Joyce agreed to marry Devon knowing that she will always take a backseat to his daughter.
Devon and Joyce’s wedding was chosen by TheKnot.com as the recipient of this year’s Dream Wedding. The wedding was streamed live by TheKnot.com.
Guests snacked on shiitake mushrooms and salted caramel macaroons while they awaited the arrival of the bride and groom.
The bride and groom, both 26, descended down opposite staircases at the NY Public Library. Joyce wore an embellished white gown with a flowing train and veil, while Devon was dressed in a traditional black tuxedo.
Devon wept silently when he saw his 6-year-old daughter Leah walk down the aisle, He couldn’t stop smiling at his strong, resilient daughter he calls “his inspiration.”
At the reception, Leah, Joyce and Devon danced to classical renditions of modern love songs such as John Legend‘s “All Of Me”.
“I love my new family,” said Leah as she wiped away tears. “Thank you for all your support,” she added. “This is my first real wedding!” Leah told PEOPLE. “It’s great!”
Before the ceremony, Devon presented Leah with a custom rose gold butterfly bracelet designed by Simon G. Jewelry.
The delicate bracelet features two diamond-encrusted butterflies with their wings spread wide – to symbolize new beginnings for the new family.
“I love this bracelet because my dad gave it to me, and I love my dad,” said Leah, who was declared cancer free in March 2015.
“My daughter is the strongest person I know,” Devon told PEOPLE. “She is my inspiration, my light.”
He added: “It’s the end to a rough patch, a difficult time for my daughter and for my family, because we postponed the wedding due to Leah’s cancer. Now that it’s here, I feel like it’s the end to a hard time but the start of our new beginning. And that makes me so excited.”
Joyce’s gown was designed by Pnina Tornai for @kleinfeldbridal. She was styled by @thestylishbride. Leah’s pink dress was designed by Hayley Paige, and Devon’s tux was tailored by Martin Greenfield Bespoke in NYC.
Francesca Events handled the event planning, and the wedding was designed by @davidbeahm.

May GOD continue to bless this family
Did anyone else see an add on this site yesterday or the day before for Sally’s buy 2 get 1 any hair products? These people in Sally’s think I’m making this up.
Are these the ads you saw? It says the sale ends Saturday. So the sale should be good until closing time today.
Edited to say I think you had to purchase the products online by clicking the ad. I’m not sure.
I didn’t know she was not Leah’s mother. Hmmm a sick child usually brings a family together for the well being of the child. Good luck nevertheless.
Her mother is Channing Smythe. She wasn’t very supportive of Devon. I understand she wanted more money.
They always do.
She sure did. Don’t know if she was paid hush money or not, but that story died down quickly.
I just read up on it. She was there and made sacrifices before the money came in, even moving to backwards Cincinnati to be with him while he was in college. Ring the alarm!! I wish them well though, it sucks when another woman benefits from years of sacrifices and you have to beg for support. As long as Leah is happy, that girl better hurry up and have babies or she will be like Cinderella.
Gives me chills of joy. Sandra, I love stories like this.
Real quick.
Thank you. I was told the offer was for the other products, not multicultural products. ?
Sad and embarrassing.
If she is a good woman she will be all right. It hurts, I went through it with my ex but my second life is so much better. Their daughter was Blessed to recover I wish her mother well. None of us know what’s behind the scenes but I’m sure they both love that little girl. She is just adorable and a very strong spirit.
“Multi-cultural products”! See here nah! That phrase just itches my azz, Lucille!
Anywhoo, hope you get your products and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Discussions of ethnic products and their placement were brought up sometime in the last few weeks. I was able to get some things. I’m going to go in this kitchen and do it old school like I’ve been doing.
Hope you have a great weekend!
just a beautiful story ..
I thought Sally’s only sold multicultural products?
Great! Make sure that hair is tight. ((Hugs))
I love this post.
Great positive story, Auntie. We appreciate it.
Amen!
Beautiful family and child, dress, venue, sponsors, guests. Just lovely all around. A class act. Blessings upon blessings!
They can’t say that. Call the corporate office. You will get the discount.
Sally’s is traditionally a white beauty supply vendor. But were the first white vendors to niche the black hair care market. They realized black women in the suburbs need relaxers, Kemi oli, bond glue remover, etc.
What’s the story??
Such a beautiful family
Wish them loads of happiness, peace adn prosperity..Blessings to them!
What God has joined together let no man put usunder. Congratulations!!!!

I was just there and the salesgirl told me about it……got my two items and third for free …..but they were ION (clariol) products. I will be calling corporate because that makes no sense. Had it out at Target because the ethnic color make-ups are a $1 more….same brand, same product, just darker. I’m like they always try to remind us we are black….yet our money is green just like theirs….and their daughters want our lips, arse, hips, legs, and melanin.
Beautiful indeed.
Every time I see these 2 I get extremely emotional. I love her and her dad’s relationship so much. So happy she is cancer free, she has a supportive step mom, and an amazing dad. Thank God! I pray for them daily, please do the same!
It’s great to be reminded that even in this sometimes horrible world – blessing can flow abundantly. And that baby is so ca-yute in her dress!
Praise God. What a beautiful example of the power of prayer, love and commitment.

CONGRATS TO THE GORGEOUS FAMILY! HOMEMAKER, BACKSEAT…THE SHADE THO! ??? HATE I MISSED THE PLETHORA OF SATURDAY POSTS
So lovely I wish them nothing but a lifetime of happiness she deserves ,it he deserves it and Leah deserves it.
Congrats to them, just a great story. Everything looked perfect!
I teared up reading this. This is such an amazing story.
I CAUGHT THAT PETTINESS!!! A REAL WOMAN KNOWS HER PLACE. THE KIDS COME FIRST SO I WOULD’VE WAITED AS WELL.
Lord, seeing that baby cry is a reminder that my grown arse ain’t got shat to complain about…
He probably didn’t love like she thought…or else why won’t he be married to her instead of other lady? A child won’t change anything if true love doesn’t exist. As the end, both parties would be miserable. And that might worsen Leah’s progress. Ladies please take time and be sure of who you throw your vajayjay and womb to. Please selective as these men!
She’s too cute!
Please eradicate this person^^^
Sandra…please?
Where is the child mother… I wonder why they r not together.. I mean she went tru the same thing he did …
Awwwwwwwwww
Awwwwwwwwww
Awwwwwwwwww
I wish my dad loved me the way he loves Leah. I feel bad for the new wife though. Sandra’s right, she’ll always play second fiddle.
Awww this is sooo sweet. Just what I needed this mundee Mornin!!
So touching and he is such a devoted and loving father.
Or he may give that woman all of his love and devotion because she stuck by his side during the toughest and most challenging time of his life. She wouldn’t have stuck around if she felt she just a second fiddle. But that’s just my opinion.
Maybe, maybe not. Who’s to say? They’re married now and i’m sure he loves her. Good for them.
I cry every time I read something about this story. However I’ve always wondered what’s up with her bio mom?
This brought tears to my eyes….
