Timothy Randall Korr, the Baltimore tutor who was arrested and charged with child abuse, says a 2nd grade student caused his own injuries when he slipped and “hit himself” on a wall.

Trayvon Grayson, 7, was treated at a hospital for facial injuries, including a fractured jaw and had several of his teeth knocked out.

Korr, who weighs 220 pounds, was taking Grayson to the principal’s office for disciplinary reasons when he allegedly threw the child against a wall.

Lateekqua Jackson, told WBAL-TV that when she arrived at City Springs Elementary School, she found her son crying in the back of an ambulance.

“The teacher told me that he put him over his shoulder and, when he put him down, he was bleeding,” Jackson told WBAL-TV.

During a news conference on Wednesday, Chief T.J. Smith said he and other officers “cringed” while viewing surveillance video of the incident.

“To watch a child be basically manhandled like a sack of potatoes is incomprehensible,” Smith told reporters.

“The video does show him carrying the child and slamming him up against the wall, and it’s very difficult to watch,” Smith. “We cringed a number of times as we watched the video.”

Korr has been fired from City Springs Elementary.

Last week, a video of an unruly 6-year-old boy being restrained in a barber chair drew comments from majority black viewers who suggested the boy needed to be beaten to correct his behavior.

Unfortunately this mentality leads to child abuse and trauma against children like Trayvon who can’t control their behavior due to mood disorders such as depression or oppositional defiant disorders.

Violence begins at home.
