Longtime members of R. Kelly’s entourage were arrested for their involvement in concealing his alleged sex crimes against minors.
The “I Believe I Can Fly” singer was arrested for the third time this year on Thursday, July 11, and has been indicted in federal courts in New York and Chicago, Illinois on charges including sex trafficking, sexual exploitation of a child and kidnapping.
Two members of Kelly’s inner circle were indicted along with him, including his former manager, Derrel McDavid, and another employee named, Milton Brown.
The men are accused of concealing dozens of videos that allegedly show Kelly engaging in sexual misconduct with minors. The videos are now in the hands of the feds. More arrests are expected to follow.
McDavid pleaded not guilty to four charges on Friday. He denied helping cover up Kelly’s alleged crimes by paying hush money to victims and collecting incriminating tapes of the R&B star to prevent them becoming public. He was released on a $500,000 bond. Brown is also scheduled for a court appearance next week.
Sources close to the federal investigation tell The Blast, “more indictments are on the way” for allegedly concealing and aiding in Kelly’s alleged crimes against children.
The troubled singer was arrested on Thursday as he walked his dogs outside his Trump Tower apartment in Chicago, Ill.
His two longtime girlfriends, Joycelyn Savage, 23, and Azriel Clary, 22, were reportedly evicted from Kelly’s Trump Tower apartment following his arrest. But a lawyer for one of the women submitted a video to TMZ that shows the women still inside the luxury apartment as of Sunday, July 14.
Kelly, 52, remains in federal custody in Chicago. Brooklyn prosecutors are demanding his extradited to New York to face federal charges there.
