R&B crooner Usher Raymond recently put the palatial mansion that he once shared with ex-wife Tameka Raymond on the market — and he’s giving her 60 days to vacate the premises.
Public records show the 33-year-old singer purchased the 12,445 square foot, 6 bedroom, 8 bath mansion in Roswell in 2007 (the year he married Tameka) for $3,040,000. The value of the home has dropped over a million dollars in recent years. But Usher is listing the home at $3.2 million.
Usher filed for divorce from Tameka in 2009 after living apart for over a year. He allowed Tameka to live in the mansion with their sons, 4 and 3, and her sons from previous relationships for a few years. But the terms of their divorce allows Usher to sell the mansion at will.
Friends say Usher was tired of sinking thousands of dollars a month into the mansion for its daily upkeep. He wants Tameka out so he can unload the pricey property and cut his losses.
The mortgage is a whopping $11,000 a month, not including the property taxes which comes to over $42,000 a year.
Usher thinks he’s paying Tameka enough in child support for her to move out and buy her own home. But Tameka is mired in debt, and she can’t afford a similar mansion with the cash he’s giving her.
There is also an unconfirmed report that Tameka owes the IRS a bundle for 10 years in back taxes.
Friends say a broker had been trying to show the home to potential buyers as far back as July — while Tameka was at home — but she refused to let them in.
According to TMZ.com, the home is the main reason Tameka and Usher were locked in a mediation battle in court to decide custody of their sons.
Usher was awarded primary custody of the two boys by Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane in August. The controversial court decision sparked an FBI investigation into corruption at the judicial level in Fulton County.
