Elon Musk is back on the market. The Tesla founder and musician Grimes have reportedly split after three years together.
The couple will continue to co-parent their infant son X Æ A-Xii, pronounced Ex Ash A Twelve.
Elon and Canadian singer Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, 33, met in 2018. They welcomed their son in 2020.
Grimes is best known for her electronic and synthpop music. She featured pop singer Janelle Monae on her track “Venus Fly.”
“We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” Elon told Page Six.
Elon said they grew apart due to his work which requires him to travel extensively.
“It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room.”
Elon, 50, moved to Texas in December 2020 following a public spat with California lawmakers over government shutdowns amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Elon, who has six other sons with ex-wife Justine Musk, was less than impressed with the latest addition to his modern family.
“Well, babies are just eating and pooping machines, you know? Right now there’s not much I can do,” he told the New York Times. “When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me.”
Elon has been married three times. He divorced Justine Musk in 2008, and he and actress Talulah Riley divorced twice.
He briefly dated actress Amber Heard in 2017.
