A man who was arrested for impersonating a doctor when he was 18 is heading back to prison after pleading guilty to stealing more than $10,000 from his employer.
Malachi Love-Robinson made headlines in 2016 when he opened a medical clinic in Florida with family members and examined patients as “Dr. Love.”
Love-Robinson, now 25, was arrested in 2016 and charged with stealing $30,000 from a patient in her 80s. He was arrested after he prescribed treatment for an undercover police officer who was impersonating a patient.
Prior to that, he was caught posing as a doctor in a pregnant woman’s exam room in 2015, when he was only 17, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Love-Robinson’s New Birth New Life Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida was shut down permanently and he was released from jail on bond.
“And I’m not stopping. Palm Beach county should look forward to office number two in the next coming years,” he told WPBF in 2016.
Later that year while out on bail, Love-Robinson was arrested in Virginia for trying to buy a Jaguar worth $35,000 using his elderly godmother’s name and Social Security number on the loan without her knowledge.
He pleaded guilty in both cases and was released from prison in 2019.
Court documents show that Love-Robinson was working as a salesperson for a company that connects shippers with trucking companies in 2020. Instead of having customers make payments to the company, Love-Robinson told them to send the money to bank accounts he controlled.
He was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison last week after pleading guilty to grand theft and organized scheme to defraud in Palm Beach County, Florida.
