Former NBA star Marcus Morris was arrested for allegedly stealing $265,000 from Las Vegas casinos. According to court documents, obtained by TMZ, Morris, 35, allegedly wrote bad checks for $115,000 to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino to cover his gambling debts in May 2024.

In June 2024, Morris wrote more bad checks at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino for $150,000. Prosecutors say Morris knew he didn’t have the money in the bank to cover the checks and he never paid the money back.

He was taken into custody at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida on Sunday, July 27, and appeared at a bond hearing on Tuesday.

A judge denied bond for Morris during a hearing on Tuesday. His attorneys argued for his release, stating he’s currently in the process of paying off his debts in Nevada – and he can’t repay the money if he’s locked up.

But the judge said he would only be released to Nevada authorities or if his arrest warrants were withdrawn.

Morris was back at home by Wednesday. He took to social media to plead his case. Morris said he was behind bars for 51 hours and given no food or water during his detainment.

He complained that he was made to “look like a criminal” over his debts, but he promised to repay the money.

“So did I go past the time I needed to repay, yea probably did. Did I know they would locked (sic) me up helllllll No,” he wrote.

“Say what you want but FRAUD will never be something I’m apart of or wasting my time with,” Morris added.
