Former UConn men’s basketball player Eric Cobb was arrested and charged in the shooting death of his mother.

The Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff’s Office announced Cobb’s arrest on Monday. Cobb, 28, is charged with 2nd-degree murder.

Police found 51-year-old Erika Winford deceased in the backyard of her Durkeeville home on Monday. Her body was wrapped in blankets and towels, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

An autopsy determined Winford had been shot in the head.

Police arrested Cobb as he tried to leave the home he shared with his mother. He is booked into the Duval County Jail.

Police found multiple bullet holes in the home’s main hallway. The hallway appeared to have been cleaned.

Officers found an AR-style rifle and a Smith & Wesson 9mm semiautomatic handgun in the house. Additionally, spent shell casings were found in a trash can on the curb outside the home.

On Monday, a neighbor told investigators they heard a woman yell, “He’s going to kill me,” and a second neighbor said they heard several gun shots, the New York Post reports.

Winford told friends her son was “schizophrenic” but he couldn’t afford his psych meds. She said she was afraid of him.

Cobb played for the University of Connecticut and University of South Carolina men’s basketball teams. He was dismissed from the South Carolina team after police arrested him in March 2016 for shooting at an occupied vehicle with a BB gun. No one was hurt.

Cobb was also dismissed from the University of Connecticut team in 2018 due to “conduct deemed detrimental to the team,” WTNH reports, However, the team reinstated him a month later.

Cobb entered the NBA draft in 2019 but he went undrafted, making him an unrestricted free agent.

He played professional basketball in Croatia before returning to the U.S. during the COVID pandemic in 2020.

Black-owned hair brand offers loc extensions as Trump’s tariffs send Yaki prices through the roof

A Black-owned hair brand is offering locs extensions after President Trump’s tariffs sent the price of Yaki hair weave through the roof.

Earlier this month, President Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese products, including hair extensions and lacefront wigs. The tariffs caused the price of hair weave to skyrocket, making it insanely expensive to buy weave bundles in the U.S.

Unlike hair vendors that buy weave from suppliers in Asia, Izina Hair partners with suppliers in Burundi to provide high-quality loc extensions.

“We wanted to create something that truly represents us,” Izina co-founder Diana Jocelyn told Black Enterprise. “Too often, our hair is manufactured far from home, without our input. We knew we had to change that.”

She added, “Every loc we create is a step towards economic independence for our communities. We’re not just selling hair; we’re building a legacy.”

Diana’s journey to natural hair came after years of using damaging relaxers. Her natural hair journey led to the creation of Izina.

“Going back to my natural hair was a turning point for me,” she said. “It wasn’t just about aesthetics, it was about reclaiming my identity.”

Hair weave manufacturers focus on the Western standard of beauty. Most Black women wear wigs in the texture of their oppressors since it’s usually the only type of weave available in the marketplace.

But Izina Hair strives to make their loc extensions the standard of beauty in Black America.

“We dream of a world where African beauty is celebrated on a global scale,” Diana says. “And we won’t stop until that happens.”

Ariana Grande responded to rumors of her “secret marriage” to “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo. Rumors swirled last year that Ariana, 31, and Cynthia, 38, were secret lovers.

Speculation recently ran rampant when Cynthia was seen with a ring on that finger.

The “We Can’t Be Friends” singer addressed the rumors in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on February 11.

“People think we’re secretly married,” Ariana told THR. “I wish I could unsee some things,” she said, referring to disturbing fan art that depicted Ariana and Cynthia as sapphic lovers.

“I mean, wow, I had a feeling, but I didn’t know it would be on this scale or this graphic,” Ariana added.

During their press tour for “Wicked,” the two women often held hands, embraced and whispered to each other. They gushed about each other in emotional interviews.

The pop singer recently broke up with co-star Ethan Slater after dating for 2 years. She reportedly cheated on her then-husband, Dalton Gomez, with Ethan in 2023.

Ariana and Dalton finalized their divorce in March 2024. While Ethan and his ex-wife finalized their divorce in September 2024.

Cynthia was in a longterm domestic partnership with screenwriter and director Lena Waithe. There was even a rumor that Cynthia and Lena, 40, eloped after Lena’s divorce from Alana Mayo was finalized in 2020.

Insiders referred to the British actress as Lena’s “common-law wife.”

Lena raised eyebrows on Instagram recently when she seemed to accuse Cynthia of hooking up with Ariana.

In a series of since-deleted posts in her Instagram Stories, Lena seemed to hint that Cynthia and Ariana are an item.

In one post, Lena wrote a popular quote about trust in relationships. The post was intentionally cut off:

“Maturity in a relationship is when you catch your mind as it is creating a false story about your partner, which is based on inner tension that is unrelated to them. Self-awareness helps decrease unnecessary conflict.”

In another deleted post, Lena wrote “I’m watching you guys in the press tour…”

Social media users noted that Lena apparently lost Cynthia the same way she got her: by cheating on her ex, Alana Mayo, with Cynthia.

Some of Lena’s followers called it “karma” that Lena is experiencing the same painful ordeal that she put Alana through.

Serena Williams responded to the backlash after she crip-walked during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Super Bowl fans were shocked to learn that the Crip Walk, or C-Walk, is affiliated with the notorious Crips street gang in Compton, California.

Serena’s older sister Yetunda Price was killed in a drive-by shooting by two members of the Southside Crips.

Serena glorified the same street gang by wearing their gang colors (blue) and doing the Crip Walk footwork on a worldwide stage.

Fans say the retired tennis star tarnished her legacy by crip-walking to get back at her ex, Drake, while Kendrick performed his Grammy-winning diss track “Not Like Us.”

ESPN sports analyst Stephen A. Smith said he would divorce the mother-of-2 if she was his wife.

On the Feb. 10 episode of ESPN’s First Take, Smith said, “If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his a*s, ’cause clearly you don’t belong with me.”

“What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye,” he added”

Sports journalist Jason Whitlock wrote on X on Feb. 10: “Serena Williams was the extra sauce last night. She lost a sister to gang violence in a drive-by shooting, but she’s crip-walking on Kendrick’s set last night. She’s a controlled clown.”

Serena, 43, responded to the criticism, saying she mimicked the gang-affiliated footwork because Kendrick asked her to.

In a post on Instagram, Serena explained that Kendrick’s team reached out to her, asking if she would recreate the moment when she crip-walked on the tennis court after earning a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.

“I’m like Super Bowl? Are you serious? When in the world would I ever be able to dance at a superbowl? (Never) let’s do it! End of story,” Serena wrote.

One fan wrote on X: “Would you jump off a bridge if Kendrick asked you to?”

Iowa star forward Jada Gyamfi drooled over Caitlin Clark‘s physique in Nike‘s powerful new TV commercial featuring other high-profile female athletes.

After 27 years, Nike returned to Super Bowl advertising with an epic ad featuring WNBA superstars Caitlin, A’ja Wilson and Sabrina Ionescu, gymnast Jordan Chiles, track star Sha’Carri Richardson, and tennis champion Aryna Sabalenka.

The 60-second ad‘s tagline is: “You can’t win. So win.”

Caitlin promoted the ad on her social media accounts, posting a series of images alongside a caption that read, “You’ll be told you can’t do it. So do it anyway – @nike.”

Caitlin’s former Iowa teammate Jada Gyamfi re-posted the ad on her Instagram account.

Jada drooled over Caitlin’s toned physique in the ad. “That muscle definition,” Jada wrote.

The WNBA rookie of the year spent the offseason lifting weights in the gym to build muscle after jealous WNBA players pushed her around during her rookie season.

Caitlin was the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Indiana Fever in 2024, but she got no respect from veteran WNBA players.

Caitlin said “no” to a record $1 million offer to play in the inaugural season of the Unrivaled 3-on-3 women’s basketball league in Miami, Florida.

Unrivaled co-founder Napheesa Collier still hopes that Caitlin will save her league from going under join her league next season.

“There’s no break, especially for the rookies. They play for like 18 months straight or something crazy like that just going from both seasons,” Napheesa said in an appearance on the “Run It Back” podcast.

“So I know she really needed that little mental break from basketball for a little bit,” she added. “But all [Unrivaled] can do is show her what we have and I think what we have here is really special. And of course we’re always going to have a spot for her and hopefully we can make it work in the future.”

Four Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees were fired by Elon Musk for sending $59 million to NYC hotels for immigrants.

“Effective immediately, FEMA is terminating the employment of four individuals for circumventing leadership to unilaterally make egregious payments for luxury NYC hotels for migrants,” DHS officials said in a statement obtained by The New York Post.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS will not sit idly and allow deep state activists to undermine the will and safety of the American people,” the statement added.

The payments were discovered by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) during an audit of FEMA.

Musk tweeted about the payments on Monday.

“That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high-end hotels for illegals,” Musk wrote. He promised DOGE would be making “a clawback demand … to recoup those funds” from the hotels in NYC.

Musk said $19 million of the $59 million went for direct hotel costs, while the rest went to pay for catering and security for the migrants.

Cameron Hamilton, FEMA’s acting administrator under President Trump, said that FEMA has suspended all payments to New York City to house migrants, effective Monday, Feb. 10.

Justin and Hailey Bieber are reportedly in therapy to save their marriage.

According to The U.S. Sun, Justin and Hailey are struggling with marital issues that are “bigger than just a fight” amid divorce rumors.

A body language expert hired by The U.S. Sun to analyze photos of the pop star says Justin “looks like he’s not healthy, and as if he hasn’t slept”.

Fans were concerned when Justin skipped the Grammy Awards earlier this month. Days later Justin was seen wearing a bathrobe and Uggs boots in the street outside a hotel.

Body language expert Patti Wood, the author of SNAP: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma, spoke exclusively to The U.S. Sun.

“When you wear sleepwear out and about, it’s projecting that you want to be tucked away safe in bed,” she said in an exclusive chat.

“With a bathrobe and slippers and a onesie, it’s as if he’s saying, ‘I wish I was a little boy, I want to return to childhood.'”

Nowadays, Justin can be seen tagging along behind Hailey. She always looks beautiful and refreshed, while Justin looks unkempt with sunken cheek bones and pale skin.

Patti told The U.S. Sun how Hailey is always “steps ahead of” Justin in every photo. “They’re very far apart, she’s way ahead of him. This is an indication that she doesn’t want to be side-by-side with him. It seems she’s over him, and doesn’t want to be associated with him.”

“He seems in pain and wants people to notice he’s in pain. His strange clothing is attention-seeking,” Patti added.

Hailey and Justin welcomed a son named Jack Blues Bieber in August 2024.

“Hailey’s been struggling with Justin almost since the start of the marriage,” a source recently told The U.S. Sun.

“She loves him madly but he’s a loose cannon. Some of her friends have advised her to go it alone and leave him. His behavior is sometimes unacceptable. She’s put up with a lot.”

ESPN disrespects Philadelphia Eagles after their dominant win over Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs was the favorite to win Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Every sports network had Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs winning easily over Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, mainstream media outlets were disappointed when the Eagles demolished the Chiefs 40-22.

The Eagles made sure the referees didn’t exert their influence by making sure the game was far out of their reach.

Philadelphia jumped to a 34-0 lead over the Chiefs after leading 24-0 at halftime.

The Chiefs didn’t get on the scoreboard until late in the 3rd quarter. By then it was too late for one of Mahomes’ famous comebacks.

After the game, ESPN disrespected the Eagles by unveiling their early 2025 NFL power rankings for next season.

The Eagles were not listed No. 1, No. 2, or No. 3 on the early 2025 NFL power rankings.

Via MSN — “Despite the Eagles’ dominant win against the Chiefs, Philadelphia wasn’t at No. 1.

They weren’t at No. 2 or No. 3, either. Nope, the Eagles came in at No. 4 in ESPN’s early 2025 NFL power rankings.

Guess who was at No. 1…. That’s right. The Chiefs. The team that Philly ran out of the Superdome on Sunday.”

Hostility towards the Chiefs ran high because fans insisted the fix was in. There were calls to boycott the Super Bowl due to numerous favorable calls for the Chiefs by the referees in previous games.

Ticket prices for America’s biggest sporting event dropped to historic lows.

Fans were tired of hearing about pop superstar Taylor Swift and Chiefs wide receiver Travis Kelce.

Taylor Swift was booed when her face flashed on the big screen at Caesars Superdome. She didn’t appear on the jumbo screen for the rest of the game.

Retired tennis star Serena Williams supported Taylor on X, writing, “I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those booo!!”

President Donald Trump – who also picked the Chiefs to win – took to his Truth Social app to taunt Taylor, saying she “got BOOED out of the stadium…”

Super Bowl fans mistook Blue Ivy for Beyoncé with Jay-Z

When rap mogul Jay-Z showed up at the Super Bowl with his kids on Sunday, Feb. 9, fans mistook his eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, 13, for his wife, Beyoncé, 43.

Blue looked very grown up in a pair of blue jeans and an oversized black leather jacket by Balenciaga. She also wore long curly hair extensions, dark sunglasses, and a full face of makeup. She held onto her father’s arm as they posed for photos. At times father and daughter seemed attached at the hip.

Blue looked much shorter without the 4-inch heels that she wears on red carpets at events.

Blue’s uncanny resemblance to her mother fooled fans in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and online.

“I thought that was Beyoncé, she looks just like her mother lol,” wrote one fan on X. Another fan wrote, “I thought Blue was Beyoncé for a second there.”

A third person wrote: “Blue Ivy looks like Beyoncé and Rumi looks like Blue Ivy who looks like Jay-Z.”

Jay-Z’s youngest daughter Rumi acted more like a kid than her big sister. The 7-year-old wore light blue jeans, a white shirt and a black jacket with skeleton bones on the sleeves.

She also wore a white cross body bag and a VIP pass identifying her as a very important person.

A source said Beyoncé was at home with Rumi’s twin, Sir Carter, who is said to be special needs. Sir is rarely ever seen in public.
