The father of Kobe Bryant, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, died of complications from a stroke. He was 69. His death was announced in a post on the La Salle Men’s Basketball X account on Tuesday.

“We are saddened to announce the passing of La Salle basketball great Joe Bryant.

Joe played for the Explorers from 1973-75 and was a member of our coaching staff from 1993-96. He was a beloved member of the Explorer family and will be dearly missed.”

La Salle coach Fran Dunphy told the Philadelphia Inquirer on Tuesday that Joe recently suffered a massive stroke.

The 76ers selected Joe with the No. 14 pick in the 1975 NBA Draft. He played 8 seasons in the NBA.

In his first game for the Clippers Joe famously dunked on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Joe’s son Kobe inherited his dad’s superior basketball skills. Kobe won five NBA championships and was an 18-time All-Star.

Kobe was partly raised in Italy, where Joe played for several teams.

Kobe died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. He was 41. His wife Vanessa Bryant turned off the comments on her Instagram page on Tuesday.

Kobe’s parents were left penniless when he died. They were forced to sell a replica of one of Kobe’s NBA championship rings to make ends meet.

Joe was the head coach of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks from 2005 to 2007 and again in 2011. He also coached in Italy, Japan, and Thailand.

In addition to Kobe, Joe and his wife Pam had two daughters, Sharia and Shaya.

Alliauna Green, 27, who performed as Tan DaGod, was fatally shot at the grand opening of a beauty supply store in Oakland, CA.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of a strip mall. Green held a meet & greet at the Glamor Beauty Supply store in the strip mall. She was shot multiple times when she left the store. Another woman was injured.

Witnesses described the shooter as a Black male wearing a hoodie. He fled on foot after the shooting.

Green’s fans say she served jail time for shooting her ex-boyfriend in self-defense in 2020. She was released from jail and placed in protective custody. But she left protective custody to attend the meet & greet.

The aspiring rapper revealed her location in a livestream video when she urged her fans to come to the meet & greet.

During an album promotion, Green mocked her ex by displaying a fake tombstone with her court date on it.

She also put her dead ex on her mixtape cover, titled Ex Wood Pack. His face was replaced by a burning blunt on the cover.

In an interview on Kid L’s podcast last August, Green joked about killing her ex. She smoked a blunt and said she was smoking her ex.

She said he threatened her family. “You gotta take him out. And it just is what it is,” she said.

A former military sniper says the Secret Service detail for former President Trump didn’t expect a gunman to miss Trump at a rally on Saturday.

A 20-year-old loner attempted to assassinate Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

A Secret Service sniper killed the gunman after he fired several rounds at Trump. A bullet grazed Trump’s right ear.

Sniper Nicholas Irving, who provided security for then-Vice President Joe Biden, told VladTV he thought the shooting was “AI”.

“I’m thinking, it’s almost like… that’s not the way it was supposed to go down,” Irving said. “It was kind of like a shock that this guy missed that shot that close.

Irving suggested the Secret Service agents weren’t well-trained. He was shocked when the agents asked each other what to do. They seemed confused. One female agent didn’t know how to holster her gun.

“That’s what we train for,” Irving said. “You have Secret Service agents who can’t holster their pistols. And why are you holstering your pistol when you’ve encountered a threat such as an assassination attempt?”

Irving said the rooftops around the rally should have been secured the day before the rally.

He also said the Secret Service snipers’ reaction to the shooter did not make sense.

It was later reported that Secret Service snipers and local police were ordered to wait until after the gunman took the first shot at Trump.

A source within the Secret Service tells RealClearPolitics that protocol is to wait until the president is fired upon to return fire. By “president”, they mean Biden.

Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle has refused calls to resign from the Secret Service.

Trump had top tier Secret Service protection when he officially became the GOP nominee for president at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday.

YouTube viewers mocked Bronny’s 2-point highlight video on Monday.

One viewer wrote, “A 2 point highlight video is crazy.”

Another viewer wrote, “[Bronny] deserves every ounce of humiliation and embarrassment he’s going through right now… I’m sure he was glad to get home after that performance and play some video games!”

And a third person wrote, “When you force a gamer to play basketball, this is what you get.”

LeBron James previously said he regrets naming Bronny after himself because his son would not live up to his name.

Judge Ural Glanville has been recused from Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial in Atlanta.

The decision was announced in court documents obtained by Complex.com.

The court ruled there was nothing “inherently improper” about Glanville’s actions, but he was recused to preserve “the public’s confidence” in the judicial system.

The rapper’s attorney Brian Steele asked the court to recuse Glanville after the judge held a secret ex parte meeting with a key witness.

When Steele revealed his knowledge of the secret meeting, Glanville demanded to know who told him. Steele declined to reveal his informant, and the judge held him in contempt and tried to throw him in jail.

Young Thug, real name Jeffery Williams, was indicted in May 2022 along with 27 others, including rapper Gunna.

Glanville took 10 months to seat a jury before the trial finally got underway in November 2023.

There seemed to be no end in sight for the trial as long as Glanville was on the bench.

Among Glanville’s peculiar behaviors was bringing a service dog with him to the courtroom daily.

Glanville claimed he needed the emotional support animal because he suffered from PTSD after serving in the military 30 years ago.

Former President Donald Trump chose Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate. Trump announced his VP choice in Milwaukee on Monday.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump announced on his Truth Social platform.

Trump and Vance are in Milwaukee to attend the 4-day Republican National Convention.

The news comes 2 days after Trump’s near-death experience at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Trump survived an assassination attempt by a 20-year-old loner. The shooter was killed by a Secret Service sniper.

Vance openly criticized Trump in 2016. He previously suggested Trump could be “America’s Hitler,” called him obnoxious and compared him to an opioid.

But Vance changed his tune during his run for the U.S. Senate in 2022. He deleted his mean tweets and courted Trump’s endorsement.

Vance was one of the Republican lawmakers who attended Trump’s hush money trial in New York City in May.

The senator opposes abortion and has said Americans should have more children.

Vance is married with three children. He bought a $1.5 million home in Alexandria, Virginia, last year, Politico reported.

A fugitive who fatally shot a 48-year-old Church’s Chicken worker in Memphis is in police custody.

A warrant was issued for Monica Williams last week. She faces a charge of first-degree murder.

Anitra West was killed following an argument with Williams in the drive-thru. The shooting happened on July 8 around 9 p.m. at the Church’s Chicken location on Park Avenue in Orange Mound.

FedEx fired Williams, 45, after police identified her as a suspect and fugitive.

Family members describe West as a shining light and a beautiful soul.

“I’m a better man because of her,” Loranzo West, her ex-husband and high school sweetheart, said. “That’s what will be missed the most, because everywhere she went, she impacted everybody.”

West said he has family who knew Williams. He believes the argument was over more than a chicken order.

“I know Anitra was too important to be killed about some food. It wasn’t about no food. It was something somebody took personal, and couldn’t let it go,” he said. “Once you get past words in Memphis, everybody knows how it turns out.”

West seemed to confirm reports that Anitra West and Williams were arguing over a man.

Rachel Lindsay, of “The Bachelorette”, was ordered to pay her ex-husband $13,000 a month in alimony.

Last week RWS reported that Lindsay’s estranged husband, Bryan Abasolo, rejected her offer of $10,000 a month in alimony. Instead, the chiropractor demanded $16,000 a month.

According to In Touch, Abosolo, 44, told the judge he needed spousal support to move out of their marital home.

After hearing from both sides in court, the judge ruled in Abosolo’s favor. Lindsay, 39, is ordered to pay $13,000 a month in temporary spousal support. Additionally she must pay $15,000 for Abosolo’s legal fees and $5,000 for a forensics expert.

MEGA/WENN

Abosolo won Lindsay’s heart in season 13 of “The Bachelorette” in 2017. They were married in 2020. They announced their separation earlier this year.

Lindsay, an attorney in Dallas, was the first Black woman to be cast as lead on the show.

MEGA/WENN

Abosolo is a chiropractor and former clinic director in Miami, Florida.

He demanded $16,000 in alimony because $10,000 is not enough for a new mortgage, utilities, car payments and insurance in Miami. After paying his monthly bills he will barely have enough money left over to eat out once a week.

Angel Reese mocked men who asked to be flown out to attend her games. In a viral video, the Chicago Sky star said men who ask to be flown out by her or her teammates are “delusional”.

“Let me just say something … I just want to say one thing. The delusion of y’all thinking I’m finna fly any of y’all out … Yeah, that’s all I’m gonna say,” Reese said. “Yeah, the delusion of thinking any one of us are flying y’all out. Be for real. Thank you.”

The video went viral after Reese’s own teammates ended her record double-double streak against the New York Liberty. The streak ended at 15 games. A double-double means at least 10 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Reese, who is reportedly a closeted lesbian, is currently single. She was rumored to be in a relationship with former LSU teammate and aspiring rapper Flau’jae Johnson.

Reese only needed 2 points to extend her streak in Chicago on Saturday.

But four Liberty defenders pressured Reese to pass the ball to a teammate. Then her teammate dribbled out the clock instead of passing the ball back to her.

Reese is the only WNBA rookie averaging a double-double with 13.5 points and 12 rebounds per game. Reese leads the league in rebounds, but she can’t shoot. She missed 18 of her last 24 layup attempts.

Reese was named Rookie of the Month in June and voted to the WNBA All-Star game with Rookie of the Year frontrunner Caitlin Clark.

Bay Area rapper Tan DaGod, who made a mixtape about killing her ex last year, was fatally shot on Saturday.

The shooting took place during the grand opening of the Glamor Beauty Supply in Oakland, California. Another person was injured in the shooting, KRON4 reported.

Last year, Tan made a mixtape about killing her ex-boyfriend. She put a picture of him on the cover of her mixtape, titled Ex Wood Pack.

Tan DaGod’s friends and family gathered outside the store to remember her on Sunday. Many were in tears as they paid tribute.

Days earlier, Tan shared a video inviting fans to the grand opening. She also shared photos of herself sitting on a gold throne inside the store on July 11.

Tan took photos with fans at her meet & greet on July 13.

Hours later, Tan was shot outside the store as she was leaving. Fans ducked or ran for cover.

Hip hop artist Mistah F.A.B said he was booked to be at the store opening with Tan but “God had other plans”.

“The violence is beyond understanding the hurt the pain the trauma has made a forever lasting impact,” he wrote.

“@tan.dagod I will always remember you as a hustling a*s go getter, with a world of ambition, drive and courage and a heart big as TEXAS!!!!”
