A jury is finally seated in rapper Young Thug’s gang-related RICO trial in Atlanta, Ga. The jury was seated on Wednesday, 10 months after the jury selection process began.

Nearly 1,000 potential jurors were called during the jury selection process.

Young Thug, 32, was charged in a 56-count indictment in May 2022. He is accused of running a criminal enterprise responsible for multiple murders in Fulton County (Atlanta).

Judge Ural Glanville moved up the timeline for seating a jury after Young Thug’s lawyers requested a speedy trial.

Six other Young Slime Life (YSL) gang associates will also stand trial alongside Young Thug, real name Jeffery Williams.

The rapper’s stocky appearance in court on Wednesday shocked his fans. He seemed to have gained weight after complaining about the food at the Cobb County Jail.

Thug was hospitalized twice after falling ill in the courtroom. His attorney Brian Steel said he was “concerned” for the rapper’s health and well-being following his last hospitalization in May 2023.

Steel said Williams suffered from sleep deprivation and malnutrition from the unappetizing jail food.

In a motion filed on April 24, Steel said his client survived on chocolate bars and potato chips with “zero health benefits.”

Steel said Thugga was also deprived of precious Vitamin D from the sun. The only sunlight he receives is on the way to the courthouse and back to jail, Steel said.
