Jay Electronica: Move over Jay Z. The who’s who in Hip Hop say Jay e’s the Second Coming. The hype for this talented rapper with a burgeoning underground cult following has swelled to mammoth proportions since he announced he would release new music on Christmas day.

Fiends anticipating the release of Jay’s Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn) stayed up all night refreshing their browsers only to be disappointed when the free download never materialized.

The rapper is signed to Erykah Badu‘s boutique label and he has the stamp of approval from heads of state such as Nas, Just Blaze, Young Guru (Jay Z’s engineer) and more.

He’s a talented photographer too! Woot!

Serena Williams not heartbroken: ‘I’m over all that’

Despite pouring her heart out in a blog post on her official website last week, Australian Open champion Serena Williams now says it wasn’t such a big deal.

Williams says she was shocked at the reaction her blog post received from fans and other blogs. “I didn’t know it would be that big. (So) many people go on my website, which is fantastic. So many hits. It was like, Oh my God,” she said.

Williams said she was in a “melancholy state” when she wrote about a nameless boyfriend who stopped calling her. “I think it got really out of control,” said Williams about the fan reaction.

Williams said she would continue to expose her innermost feelings on her blog including what not to do in relationships and secrets of her recent weight loss. “It’s really interactive and I always try to bare my soul so people can kind of see what kind of person I am and get a better feeling for Serena Williams,” she said.

Marion Jones gets 6 months

It was a sad spectacle in a White Plains, NY courtroom today as disgraced track star Marion Jones tearfully pleaded with a judge not to separate her from her two sons. But the judge sentenced the 31-year-old to 6 months in prison for lying about her steroid use and a check fraud scheme.

“I absolutely realize the gravity of the offenses I’ve committed. I want to apologize,” Jones told the court as she began to cry, according to ABC News. “I plead with you,” she said, to not separate “me from my boys even for a short while.”

Jones’ attorneys also pleaded for leniency, but U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas handed down the sentence plus two years probation during which Jones will be required to perform 800 hours of community service.

MTV adds ‘Feedback’ to next week’s schedule

MTV has added Janet Jackson‘s “Feedback” video to it’s schedule for the week of January 14. But before you Janet fans get excited; MTV also added her “So Excited” video to its schedule back in 2006, but no one recalls seeing the video on the network.

LA Reid and other Island Records brass recently met with MTV execs to discuss Janet. But this isn’t the first time MTV has entertained execs from Janet’s label.

Since 2004’s Super bowl halftime fiasco, MTV has refused to add Janet’s videos to its regular rotation or invite her to appear on the popular TRL show.

Don’t you get tired of seeing Sean Combs‘ teeth everywhere? I know I do.

Look for Kenny Burns, aka “The Lifestyle Specialist,” to star in his own TV series called The Kenny Burns Show, produced by Tracey Edmonds-Murphy.

The Black Poker Stars Invitational was taped at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas last month. The show was directed by Tracey Edmond’s brother Michael McQuam and features high rolling celebs such as Katt Williams, Eddie Murphy, Nelly, Anthony Anderson, Eddie Griffin, Faison Love, E40, Mekhi Phifer, and more. The celebs will vie for a $50,000 cash pool and a diamond encrusted watch.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for Def Jam’s chief LA Reid to announce a successor to ousted president Jay Z at Def Jam hints a source. According to an inside source, execs at Island Records plan to wait a “couple of months” before announcing Damon Dash as the new president. Or they may not replace Jay Z at all.

The exact quote from my source was, “I think they’re going to let the dust settle for a couple of months now that Jay is gone.”

Insiders believe Reid made the decision to hold off on making an announcement out of sympathy for Jay Z, who would crash and burn if his arch enemy Dash was selected so soon after he left. “His ego couldn’t take it,” said my source.
