Obama to Transfer Iraqi Terrorists to the U.S.
Barack Obama and his advisors are crafting plans to close the Guantanamo Bay prison and bring the Iraqi terrorists to the U.S. for open trials.
The plans would call for the creation of a new legal system to handle the classified information. A new legal system would of course cost a ton of money. Guess where the money is going to come from?
You may recall that some of the 250 detainees at Gitmo were captured in Iraq on the battlefield and others were arrested for committing crimes against America following September 11.
Bush imprisoned these terrorists in Cuba for a reason: if tried on American soil, they are entitled to the same constitutional rights as Americans who are tried in the U.S. Justice system.
Under Obama’s plan, some detainees would be released immediately in America since no other country wants them, while others would be tried in U.S. courts, where they would receive constitutional rights.
Leave it to good ol’ Obama to protect the interests of terrorists and give them safe haven while thousands of brothers languish right here in American prisons for crimes they didn’t commit.

My thing is why are we holding these prisoners again? Uhm, if we have them as prisoners, aren’t they supposed to be tried. If they did something wrong, wouldn’t/shouldn’t they be tried? I’d rather them be tried swiftly, than to sit up and live off the fat of the land.
Now “understand” me this. Why was McCain held for so long, then released? With him being a POW for 5 years with broken arms and legs, how did he serve his country again?

Everyone who is being held on Guantanamo Bay is not a terrorists. The government for a long time, has used Guantanamo as torture chamber, from my understanding majority of the men being held on the bay are being held for no reason….

Sandra, when will you stop spreading propaganda? Prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba were not captured in Iraq, they were captured in Afghanistan (Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters and terrorist. He’s not protecting their interest nor giving them a safe haven either.
Sandra who is the source of this info? The mainstream media we just read about with their unreliable sources? Contradiction everywhere, just apply it where it benefits.

Is it just me or does it seem odd that there would still be “prisoners” held from 9/11 that still haven’t been convicted of any crime. Could it be that they are innocent; should we just turn the other cheek to this injustice? I guess because we have injustice right here on US soil we should continue to hold these people away from their families for crimes they may not have committed! Yeah Sandra…you were definitely better with Bush in office, his distorted views on justice and politics seem to fit your warped ideas perfectly!

One of the articles even said that 250 of the detainees were cleared for release. Okay – which administration cleared them? Bush’s! And which administration STILL has not figured out what to do with prisoners cleared for release? Bush’s!
I’m glad Obama is coming in, trying to make things happen ASAP.

I have not read the comments yet, but if even one person fell for this one I will be sorely disappointed. America does not import illegal alien foreign prisoners. IF anyone is released and some of them probably should be, it won’t be on American soil. They would be shipped back to their own country. We don’t need a new legal system to accomodate them. If they are detained in America there is no reason to change the system already in effect in Guantanamo Bay. Where do you get this stuff?

Obama have not appointed any people to his security and national councils yet to be making these decisions. Here is what his advisor was quoted as saying in Sandra’s source…
Obama foreign policy adviser Denis McDonough said the president-elect wants Guantanamo closed, but no decision has been made ”about how and where to try the detainees, and there is no process in place to make that decision until his national security and legal teams are assembled.”

Sandra do you randomly mute your TV while watching the news or what the plan is (this is even what your fav channel FOX NEWS is reporting)the detainees will either be TRIED IN THE US NOT BROUGHT HERE TO LIVE FREELY BUT TRIED(see cnn,fox and msnbc for articles)but I know you would rather people just be jailed without ever going to trial and actually be proven guilty. The fact of the matter is that Gitmo Bay has made America look hella bad and something needs to be done with it.
