A Dozen People With Guns Show Up Outside Obama Event Today

A dozen people with automatic weapons — two carrying assault rifles — showed up outside a pro-health care reform rally next to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Arizona where President Obama was speaking, according to the Huffington Post.

HuffPo just posted this video of a man carrying weapons legally outside the event. The man, who is black, said “Because I can do it,” when asked why he was armed. He had a pistol on his hip, and an AR-15 (a semi-automatic assault rifle) on a strap over his shoulder. Two police officers stuck real close to him.

Smells like a photo op to make the protesters look bad. No loaded/working guns would be allowed 10 miles within the area of the president.

I wonder if these people also carried guns outside of Bush or Clinton Rally’s…this is just ludicrous, only existence of a Black president could cause all of this. While I do not agree with Obama’s policy and do not consider myself a staunch reporter, I am willing to give the man at least a damn gone year on the job this is just ludicrous. Bush spent the first part of his presidency vacationing but this man is catching all hell…just shaking my head at it all…

I agree with Scorpio (by the way I’m a Scorpio). I don’t know if I was to young to pay attention but I don’t remember all this mess over nothing another President did. Didn’t the Clintons propose Universal Healthcare also I don’t remember hearing about guns and what not then. But then like I said I may have been to young.

You’re right the Clintons did try to get universal health care. The idea of guns being toted at any other presidental gathering would be unthinkable. What does carrying guns have to do with protesting against things that you don’t agree with? Has nothing to do with being against health care. Has everything to do with the message of what people really want to do to this president, but are using this health care thing as a mask to show it.
