Meriam Ibrahim blessed by Pope Francis

If it weren’t for her tremendous courage, bravery, and the compassion of Christians all over the world, Meriam Ibrahim would not be alive today.

Sentenced to death in Sudan for refusing to recant her Christian faith, Meriam, her husband and their 2 children, toddler Martin and infant Maya who was born in prison, arrived in Italy on Thursday.

An Italian diplomat who accompanied the family from Sudan said Italy relied on its historic ties within the Horn of Africa region to negotiate Ibrahim’s release.

Beyonce and Jay Z in New Orleans

Beyonce posted these artsy vacation pictures while on tour with her husband, Jay Z, in New Orleans. The last time Beyonce inserted herself into artwork it didn’t end well for her. Sophia Young

A WNBA player who came out against same-sex marriage yesterday was attacked and dragged on Twitter for her beliefs.

Sophia Young, 29, who plays for the San Antonio Silver Stars, tweeted a photo of herself holding up a placard that read “Vote No” outside the San Antonio City Hall, where hundreds of people prayed against a proposed LGBT anti-discrimination bill. The devout Christian mistook the anti-discrimination legislation for a bill legalizing same-sex marriage.

Instead of gently correcting her, Twitter users came for her throat with the same hatred and vitriol that they despise.

One Twitter user, @ChristopherFTL, tweeted “Bitch, are you really that dumb? Your mama must’ve been hitting the crack pipe while pregnant with your ugly ass.”

TLC Sisterhood cast

958,000 is roughly the number of viewers who tuned in to watch the series premiere of TLC’s reality TV show Sisterhood last Tuesday. In fact, the number of viewers who tuned in was so low that the show is not even listed on the TV ratings charts for shows that aired on January 1st.

Apparently, TLC’s decision to cut the check for a reality show that focuses on preacher’s wives was not a good move.

250 is the number of signatures reached on a petition to pressure TLC into canceling the show. But the petition might not be necessary.

I found this video on AOL Black Voices blog. The video is a deep discussion about the different ways to God according to Oprah Winfrey.

The lively discussion took place on Oprah’s “After Oprah” show on the Oxygen channel. I’ve never seen Oprah’s audience go in on her the way this audience does. Her critics claim Oprah is denying Jesus in this video. That’s not my interpretation. What I hear is Oprah explaining that there are other religions in the world other than Christianity.
