POLL: Should Obama Accept His Nobel Peace Prize?

Barack Obama has announced his decision to accept the Nobel peace prize despite the fact that he has done nothing to earn it after only 9 months in office.

If you decide to participate in this poll, I hope you will not allow your emotions to guide your vote. You know that the national media is watching this blog. So please show them that we are capable of rational thought.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama’s initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.

For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world’s leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama’s appeal that “Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.”

THIS MAN HAS ENDURED MONTHS AND MONTHS OF SCRUTINY AND MISDIRECTED CRITICISM. HE DESERVES IT FOR NOT HAVING THE CIA,SECRET SERVICE, AND EVERY BRANCH OF THE MILITARY PUT SOME LEAD IN ALL YOU MUTHAPHUCKERS THAT WONT LET HIM PISS OR SNEEZE WITHOUT HAVING SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT IT.

I voted YES – primary reason isn’t on him as President but him as a MAN. Sandra did you read his book? He is one of the greatest motivational speakers EVER! When has a person impacted so many people on such a GRAND scale? People cared about this election, took notice and actually were MOVED one way or another. I am not speaking on the election promises but I am SPEAKING on how he campaigned. He is charismatic and deserves this for how he OPERATED as a MAN. He is more than humble and deserving of this Sandra.

i will not even dignify the poll. nobel prizes are not pulled out of a grab bag. a LOT of thought and consideration goes into both the nomination and award processes. if he got it, he EARNED it in the committee’s collective mind and it’s theirs to give. that’s why people hate america. we’re so ignorant!
