Gregg and NeNe Leakes

In May, NeNe Leakes cancelled several of her shows to tend to her ailing husband, Gregg Leakes. According to insiders, Gregg was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery to remove his prostate gland. Last night, NeNe confirmed the rumors.

On Wednesday, NeNe, 50, announced the news under a photo of Gregg on her page.

"Our New Normal and the fight begins #fuckcancer... #mdandersoncancercenter #yougotthis #iloveyou," she wrote in the caption, along with a black fist and middle finger emojis.

In the photo, a slimmer Gregg sits with his arms crossed next to a table with a laptop open to the MD Anderson Cancer Center website.

Piedmont Healthcare's Cancer Center in Atlanta is a member of the vast MD Anderson Cancer network.

    The cheek fillers are terrible.
The new nose is not a good new normal.
The wig is never the business. Nene buys the worse wigs ever.

  • Black4life

  • PhillyFacts

Ditto! He’s always been such a beautiful calm presence, in the storm of that show.

  • Sally Wright McLinn

Glad he got the surgery. My brother got the radiation seeds and he's suffered since that. Better to get the prostate taken out.

  • Quitedeliteful

    I hope he pulls through....

  • Bee jaay Cee

    2 things
    1. She loves her some Gregg.
    2. Just say no to plastic surgery Nene.

  • GoldenGloBeS

That man looks old enough to be her dad hell even grandpa he nasty as hell and she disgusting to call that her husband ?!

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

They got together 20 years ago when Nene was 30 and Gregg was around 50. They both were full-grown adults lol Nene already had her eldest child. It's not like Gregg got with a 20-year old lol

  • Dahl

Thank you for that parenthetical clarification, lest we thought you meant NeNe ???

  • Ms. Jackson

I hope Greg can beat this. I hate cancer. My prayers to him. ?? ?? ??

  • kekeb

Oh wow! Praying for your healing Greg! Didn't see this coming at all.

  • Kimberly King

Aw man, I love Greg! And I love the way Nene loves her husband. She’s crazy about him. Get well Greg !!

  • Solstice

Chile, my daddy too opted for the radiation as well. He’s currently in remission but I agree. I think the surgery would have probably been best but everyone is different when it comes to determining their treatment options. And I respect his decision. Best wishes to your brother!! ?????

  • AveIvy

    This word was EVERYTHING!!!!!

  • Solstice

    ?? ?? Amen!

  • Solstice

Honestly. I believe there is a cure. I believe there’s a cure for a lot of things. However, the pharmaceutical companies and some physicians won’t make any money by curing illnesses…just my 2 cents…

  • Solstice

    Amen ??

  • AllSeductress

  • Kay the Virgo ?

It’s gonna be alright Mr Gregg, everything will be fine ? I will definitely pray for the Leakes, God got it !... Fuck cancer tho, my mommy is a beautiful survivor ???

  • SandraRose

There is a lot more money to be made from a cure than from chemo or other cancer drugs. They don't make money when cancer patients die.

  • T3

    All of this!!!!

  • Rhondalousey

Thats another thing, how many doctors are dying from it? I bet you they have a cure for themselves, smh.

  • kathleen johnson

sending blessings your way Nene !

  • Jussjess25

Thank God its not prostate cancer right yall?? That the incurable kind of cancer I believe. Prayers up for greg tho hes family .

  • Solstice

So as a healthcare professional, Auntie, you don’t believe there is a cure for any type of cancer? Some patients do not have to have chemo. For example my daddy chose radiation therapy only vs. prostate surgery. My auntie, rest her soul, did both chemo and radiation for years. Had a mastectomy. But her cancer fed off the estrogen in her body. She lost her battle…

  • SandraRose

I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing.

To answer your question: there is currently no cure for cancer. But there are some promising drugs in the pipeline. A cure would bring untold riches to the pharmaceutical company that gets it to the marketplace first.

  • KenHay

    Prayers sent for Gregg.
