Ashlee Jenae’s family says her fiancé, Joe McCann, has stopped communicating with them. Ashlee, 31, was found unresponsive in a villa at the Zuri Zanzibar resort in Tanzania on April 5.
She was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Family members say Joe contacted them 11 hours later to inform them of her death. That delay is concerning to them.
Now he has stopped communicating with the family. But social media users say he is promoting his crypto business online as if nothing happened.
Local officials in Zanzibar said Ashlee’s cause of death is suicide by hanging. But U.S. officials call Ashlee’s death “suspicious”.
TMZ’s Charlie Neff spoke with Ashlee’s parents, who say they’re demanding surveillance footage from the hotel. The family spoke with TMZ in a video with their attorney present.
Ashlee’s father said Joe initially told them “something happened” in her villa, but she was OK and “don’t worry about it.”
The family wants to see the surveillance footage to “clear everything up.” Her father said, “It gives us a timeline. It lets us know what happened. He also confirmed Ashlee didn’t have any mental health issues. “She loved her family.”
