According to Reality TV Scandals blog, reality TV personality and local attorney Phaedra Parks finally sat for her deposition.
If you recall, Parks filed a lawsuit against author Angela Stanton for publishing a book detailing alleging criminal activity on the part of Parks and her known associates. Vibe magazine, which published Stanton’s book, ultimately settled with Parks for an amount that was reported to be $2,500.
Parks sat for Stanton’s deposition in February. Since then, Parks ducked and dodged Stanton’s lawyer’s requests to sit for her own deposition in the presence of Stanton.
In a brief written in support of the deposition, Stanton’s lawyer James Radford writes, “On June 4, 02014, seemingly out of nowhere, long after discovery had expired, and after persistently refusing to sit for her deposition, thus [requiring a judge’s order], counsel for Parks emailed the undersigned counsel and volunteered to sit for a deposition.”
There is a good reason why Parks waited so long to sit for her own deposition. Her husband, white collar criminal Apollo Nida, had not yet been sentenced in federal court on bank and wire fraud charges — and Parks was afraid something would slip out during her deposition.
Anyway, Parks finally sat for her deposition on June 19, 2014. Prior to agreeing to the meeting, Parks served Stanton’s attorney with a laundry list of demands, including allowing Parks’ lawyers to retain possession of the video recording of the proceedings, and not sharing a transcript of the deposition with the blogs.
Unfortunately for Parks the transcript of the deposition is part of public record, and therefore it is fodder for the blogs to analyze and discuss as we see fit. (Isn’t this a great country?)
We begin with Radford asking Parks to prove that her credibility and reputation as a lawyer were damaged by Stanton’s book. Parks has great difficulty answering.
This line of questioning is important because, if Parks can’t explain how her reputation was defamed in a deposition, how can she explain it in court?
Next Radford moves on to asking Parks how many clients her law firm currently represents. She has trouble answering that question, too.
When the pressure begins to get to Parks, she takes her mind off the proceedings by doodling on a piece of paper.

It’s not my body. That’s why I agree with women having the right to choose.
But me getting you pregnant means I should be 50% responsible for the PREGNANCY. That means the costs of you being pregnant because we both took that risk.
But to fix your face to say that you CHOSE to have a baby and that I have to pay child support because you CHOSE to give birth is theft. That’s what it is literally by definition. You don’t HAVE to give birth. You chose that. The fact that a man gets you pregnant is completely nullified by the fact that you CHOOSE what happens.

Phaedra has a tendency to behave like a child when she is nervous or under pressure it seems. I do have sympathy for her though. Phaedra should have let Stanton make her coins a deny everything she said. Phaedra thought she could kill the book by drawing out the litigation until A. Stanton ran out of money. You can only assume, but not prove, that Phaedra knew exactly what was going on. I like how the new house is conveniently listed in her name alone though. Apollo’s restitution is near $2M and unfortunately for him, bankruptcy will not clear out most of it, if any. Because it’s a crime, it’s not likely in court will forgive the restitution.
