Justine Damond Mohamed Noor

The partner of the Minneapolis cop who shot an Australian woman dead was “left stunned” when the woman was killed without provocation.

Officers Matthew Harrity and Mohamed Noor responded to a 911 call about a sexual assault in the alley outside Justine Damond’s home.

Both officers sat in their squad car as Harrity spoke to Damond, who was wearing pajamas.

Harrity was “stunned” when Noor reached across him and fired multiple shots through the car door. Damond died later from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

A police source told KARE11 that Harrity did not view Damond as a threat.

Neither officer turned on their body cams when they arrived at the scene. Noor, 31, offered his condolences for killing the 40-year-old yoga instructor, but he demanded everyone respect his privacy.

Noor, who joined the force in March 2015, was celebrated by the city as the first Somali/Muslim officer in the 5th Precinct. He is a member of the Somali American Police Association.

Both Noor and Harrity are on paid administrative leave while an investigation into the shooting is completed.

Noor has 2 complaints against him from 2016 and 2017. He faces a lawsuit for assaulting another woman during an incident on May 25, 2017.
