Rapper 21 Savage was released on bond, pending a deportation hearing, TMZ reports. The 26-year-old rapper was released from an immigration detention center near Atlanta, hours after he was scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards in L.A.
21 Savage, who was born Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph in London, England, was arrested by ICE agents on Feb. 3 in Atlanta for overstaying his expired visa.
He arrived in the US legally in 2005 when he 12, according to immigration officials. His visa expired a year later.
Abraham-Joseph’s attorneys argued that the rapper was not subject to mandatory detention under federal law and he should be granted bond.
A judge agreed and cut him loose, pending a deportation hearing at a later date to be determined.

Rap titan Jay-Z hired top gun immigration lawyer Alex Spiro to help keep the 26-year-old rapper in the United States.
In a lengthy statement on Tuesday, his attorneys said:
“For the past 9 long days, we, on behalf of She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, known to the world as 21 Savage, have been speaking with ICE to both clarify his actual legal standing, his eligibility for bond, and provide evidence of his extraordinary contributions to his community and society.
In the last 24 hours, in the wake of the Grammy Awards at which he was scheduled to attend and perform, we received notice that She’yaa was granted an expedited hearing.
Today, 21 Savage was granted a release on bond. He won his freedom.
21 Savage asked us to send a special message to his fans and supporters—he says that while he wasn’t present at the Grammy Awards, he was there in spirit and is grateful for the support from around the world and is more than ever, ready to be with his loved ones and continue making music that brings people together.
He will not forget this ordeal or any of the other fathers, sons, family members, and faceless people, he was locked up with or that remain unjustly incarcerated across the country. And he asks for your hearts and minds to be with them.”
The rap star has three minor children, who are U.S. citizens, and a mother and four siblings, who are in the country lawfully, according to his attorney, Charles H. Kuck.

Now watch his simple ass do something stupid while he’s out & gets locked up again. ????? I’ll put money on it!!
Add my .30 cent
Yall can stop crying racism for a few months. Crying over this foreign black guy
“Abraham-Joseph is best known for dating West Coast socialite Amber Rose.”
The shade, lol. I’m pretty sure we knew of him prior to that.
*slides over two smashed pennies and my last wooden nickel*
He is one funny looking dude. He is foreign criminal but is free here with no visa. The system is a joke.
Not to mention the shade of calling Amber Rose a damn “socialite”. In what universe?
And this is what happens when you access to the right attorney on your team.
gOOD. 23 HOURS LOCK DOWN FOR A HIGH PROFILE DEPORTATION “PERSON”.
RIDICULIOUS.
Hopefully he can get this matter handled in a timely manner.
He better find a house in the country where he is from and better re-up that visa.
OK, I seriously have a question, and I’m side eyeing the hell out of his mother. If she took the time out to make sure that SHE was legal, and ensure his siblings were as well, then why didn’t she do it for HIM? Ultimately, this falls on her shoulders. He was a minor. It wasn’t like he could go out and hire an attorney at 13 when his visa expired.
With the same lame excuse, “It’s not mine, it was here when I was driving it.”
You better hold on to that wooden nickel! They don’t make em anymore.
I know this chick who took all her documents and moved out with her dude at 16. When her mom talked to her about getting her papers together she was asking what about old dude. Fast forward a few years her mom and siblings set and she and her man married and illegal together. Some ppl just stupid and don’t listen.
Maybe she tried, but maybe 21 Crumpets was a little juvenile delinquent. A big part of being able to obtain and maintain legal standing is staying out of trouble.
So they let him out after the Grammys ICE be hating they could have let him go earlier.
Hopefully he’ll take this time of good fortune to STFU and stop poking the ICE bear.
His attorney is getting some of that house money. Maybe Jay-Z has hired the lawyer, but there are more lawyers to come.
Or they could’ve just kept him and made him wait the 3-6 MONTHS to get a bond hearing like everyone else. Your comment is what’s called, ‘Looking a gift horse in the mouth.’
Actually if he had a high powered attorney working on his behalf who let the judge know he wasn’t subject to mandatory detention under federal law, the gift horse is that attorney Jay paid for.
Happy for you 21. Carry your ass to the studio. Record as MUCH as you can and stay outta trouble.
21 I’ll marry you. Just pay off my student loans. You’ll get citizenship and I’ll be debt free.
Potatoes, Potahtoes….You still have to get the hearing in order to talk the judge. ICE bumped him up for the expedited hearing.
He always look like he lacking oxygen.
?
so what. he would only be going back to england. i wonder if you are a uk citizen can you be deported to anywhere. cause if i was him i would go to canada then scotland then england. i mean come on. he will be fine. lets all help some african person who fled a warlord instead of “are you being served” “keeping up appearances”.
and without a high powered attorney pulling those strings you’re just sitting in your holding cell with your potatoes and your potahtoes.
He’s incredibly lucky. It takes at least 3-6 months for ICE to grant bond IF/WHEN they do…very often to mothers of citizen children????? In his case, his mom didn’t complete his papers as a minor. They can’t really hold it against him
She may have tried. It takes 24-48 months to review and re grant the visa with GOOD behaviors. At time he probably was 15-16. He was already troubled. I see it a lot. We cannot fault her
We can be sister-wives then. ??
But what about the gun found his car and stuff he tossed out the window?
I would put music on hold and focus on this case. But we all know he won’t do that
I know he happy. They say he was in there wiping his azz with cotton balls that’s how rough it was in there.
They made sure he missed the Grammys. That will be the last Grammy he can attend. Once he’s deported, They won’t let his criminal azz back in. He should have done like the illegal Mexicans and laid low. No. He all on national TV rapping about immigration. He knew his behind was illegal. Big Dummy!
He ain’t going anywhere ? I got a soft spot for him for some reason ?????
I see you with your Brit sit-coms. I still love Keeping Up Appearances. “This is Mrs. Bouquet (Bucket), the lady of the house speaking.” Lol.
Keep saying not his and magically no mention of those charges in ANY news story. Peeped that too
Happy to know he’s out.
Aww hell, let’s just let him have an heirloom, cause I have student loans too.
What wud u call her?
Im happy he’s out!! Now make that new music and do as many shows as u can!!
So…. Is the world suppose to rejoice? Child please!
Same! ?????
To stack them coins because DEY IS coming back for ya???

And are
How did everybody else get legal but him?
Good, now he can get his stuff together!
And, please NO CARRYING FIREARMS OR ACTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, CLUB FIGHTS OR DRIVING WITHOUT A DRIVER’S LICENSE AND INSURANCE, the usual!
thank you Hov ??
They knew they were going to release him on bond, but were evil enough to wait until after the Grammys to all of a sudden make their decision.
Chile……. Lol
???
Attorney Charles H. Kuck headed up this case for Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Josephs not Alex Spiro.Contrary to Press release statements Alex Spiro an entertainment attorney on already on retainer by Live Nation was NOT hired by Jay to handle Mr. Savage immigration case. Jay used this situation purely for publicity.
His felony stopped that, I suppose.
Not really. It’s at the discretion of the judge sometimes. My friend, who had no high powered attorney lol, had gotten out with bond and didn’t wait until 3-6 months. The judge had a soft spot for him and said, “No potatoes or potatoes for you, sir.” It depends.
A well seasoned lady of the streets?
???
He always looks lost to me, like he’s waiting for someone to tell him turn right, turn left, turn around or move forward. I like him though.
The only reason Jay Z has a vested interest in this boy is because he is recruiting him into his vile fraternal order. He gets rewarded for how many initiates he has under his belt and for the impact that initiate will have on the population.
21 Savage ain’t going no where.
If this was a normal black kid from the hood who had a wrap sheet as long as his they would’ve deported him with the quickness. He is not adding any societal value, only creating clones of himself in the black youth.
Why keep his gang banging wanna be ass in the US when the hoods are littered with this type of trash? I’m shocked to see the comments from people supporting him. Is it because he’s black? Can black people no longer make informed decisions? Once we see color we jump on the bandwagon no matter the cause. Do better people.
Whats even more of a joke is the Black Americans supporting him.

*shoves it back in my pocket*
#Truth and all this will come back to bite Jay Z – probably thru his children. Shame on him …
Good for him…..
Soooooooo, im confused if his whoooole family is here lawfully why isnt he???
That’s why he has a 12 car garage with only 6 cars…. Ninjas priorities are out of whack
But he do so much for the community
Not a socialite as she doesn’t fit the definition. She isn’t a former deb raising money for charities and showing up at the ballet and opera. At best she’s a WAG, wife/or girlfriend of someone famous.
pbs television– has taught me so much. even when keeping up appearances was getting boring it was still funny. i like that they treated the poorer relatives with respect.
