Two popular Instagram models are accused of trafficking over 200 pounds of cocaine with a street value of $2.1 million.
Racquelle Anteola 34, of Van Nuys, California and Melissa Dufour, 36, of Miramar, Florida, were arrested Thursday, June 1, by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the U.S. Border Patrol.
Deputies searched their SUV and discovered more than 217 pounds (nearly 100 kilos) of cocaine hidden in secret compartments in the floorboards and side panels, according to authorities.
“The vehicle’s back seat was modified with a steel aftermarket compartment,” said officials. “The SUV’s floor had also been lowered and welded back together to provide storage room. The second compartment was located in the back of the SUV, where the side panels were hollowed out.”
The two Instagram models are suspected of transporting cocaine from Los Angeles for distribution in Florida.
They were booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail and charged with trafficking cocaine. They are being held without bond, according to KTLA.
Their case will be tried at the federal level, according to an official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Racquelle was an aspiring rapper/singer who went by the stage name Rahky, according to her Instagram page.
Melissa is a fitness instructor who launched her own clothing line called Sexy Sweats Wear in 2018. She was interviewed for an article published in Authority magazine.
The two friends flaunted their extravagant lifestyles on their social media accounts.
The arrests shocked their followers who saw them as inspiration for their own career goals.
