Despite uniquely creative marketing campaigns, Jay Z’s much-hyped twelfth studio album, ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail,’ is only projected to push 350-400K in first week sales. According to Billboard magazine, Magna Carta’s sales estimates do not include the 1 million advance copies Samsung purchased for $5 each to give away for free to Galaxy owners.
Two days ago (July 8), sources projected that the title was aiming for a start between 350,000 to 400,000.
“Magna Carta” should easily give Jay-Z his lucky 13th No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, extending his record as the solo act with the most No. 1 albums in chart history. Only the Beatles, with 19 chart-toppers, have had more leaders.
The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, July 17.
The early estimates are sure to disappoint Jay Z, who spent 6 hours lip syncing to one of the album’s tracks at a NY art gallery on Wednesday.
