Rihanna and Jay Z: A Picture Speaks a thousand words

This photo of Jay Z and Rihanna taken at the LA Reid Grammy after party on Sunday, speaks a thousand words. Let me tell you a little something about islanders: you do not embarrass them in front of mixed company – meaning, non-family members.

Island people are very noble and proud people – but they won’t hesitate to take you to the side and tear your ass out the frame for disrespecting them. What Jay Z did by “translating” for Rihanna while she was thanking her father in front of millions – was totally disrespectful. I’m sure Rihanna let Jay Z know just how she felt about his miserable attempt at a joke at her expense.

Yesterday I made the statement that some women in our community are messy for applying the wrong meaning to the hug given to Jay Z by Rihanna when she won her Grammy. The fact that most women missed the boat on the Jay Z spectacle on stage – and instead chose to gossip about a friendly hug, proves the mentality of most women in our culture.

It’s why women are our own worst enemies – and why most women who have achieved a certain level of success eliminate their messy female friends from their lives. Once again, the scandal was not in the hug, the true scandal was in the disgraceful way that Jay Z (a grown man who should have known better) disrespected a 19-year-old woman on national TV.

I totally agree, I was shocked when folks started talking about Ri Ri should of said something to B when she went to get her award with J. Just makes no sense, but i felt he was very out of line when she was giving her speech. It was just rude, and belittling. But I could see it coming the smirk on Jays face when they announce her song said it all. His hesitation when she pulled him up to the stage. Like he didn’t really want to go. It was horrible!!!

She obviously felt they were friends, but hopefully she now knows exactly how he feels about her…

she clearly is cussing his ass out but in all honesty I dont’ think jay z was trying to disresepct her. She speaks with a accent so he was interpreting what she was saying to be funny. I found it to be quite hilarious considering he looks like a boring man and not one to crack a joke her or there.

A picture may be worth a 1,000 words, but interpretations are a dime a dozen. Another gossip/blog site has this same photo and THEIR version is that J was checking Rihanna on dragging him on stage in front of Beyaki or whatever and that she was seen crying and asking and saying “I wasn’t trying to embarrass you – why are you saying these things to me?”

So, enough with the strong Island chick nonsense and how Rihanna is just the IT thing right now. There is always an IT girl – hello – it used to be and still pretty much is, Beyaki. Rihanna is just another girl. She just happens to be gorgeous and has a great studio singing voice.

Other blogs are claiming the pic is showing Jay chewing her out for disrespecting Beyonce. The reality of the situation is it is simply a pic of two people talking who are not smiling. Sandra reads negativity into everything it seems. I watched the Grammy Awards and saw her acceptance speech with Jay’s translations. If anyone noted, while they were leaving she playfully hit him on his arm — laughing no less– surely she’s not schizophrenic and as such flipped later?! I think not. It appears to me as if he is telling her something that she finds shocking, not angering. I know Sandra hates Jay and Beyonce, but it’s not that serious. I don’t see what all the hoopla was about. She was happy to have won a Grammy, and she pulled the man who was responsible for her success onstage with her. Why should she have asked permission from Beyonce to get him onstage? WTF? Beyonce puts her bra on the same way as Rihanna everyday. He didn’t ask Beyonce’s permission when he SIGNED Rihanna to Def Jam. I wish someone would come at me like that, talking about asking permission..They would be promptly and politely checked.

I’ve been reading your blog for a minute, Sandra and I feel like you a LOT of times hate on Jay and Beyonce’ for no reason. I’m not a real fan of Beyonce, but I have loved Jay since day one. However, I still give Beyonce props where props are due, and that’s all there is to it. Sandra and anyone else who felt that Jay Z was wrong…Rihanna was on Access Hollywood today and said that she thought it was fuuny what Jay did during her speech! She said him translating for her is an ongoing joke because of her accent…he teases her about people not always understanding what she’s saying! I don’t know what she was talking to him about when that picture was taken, but I can’t really see her approaching him about something personal in such a public setting…she’s not stupid!

I dont see what the big deal was, if it was going to be dragged out she shouldnt have pulled his ass on the stage. But of course Sandra praises everything that Rihanna does. The whole thing with Jay translating for her I took it as a joke, but of course you have to drag everything out. Rihanna is not a good artist. She sounded terrible @ the grammys i was exicted to see Morris Day and the group peform until forehead came, she wasn’t even singing it sounded like she was talking the whole time. The only good song she had on her cd was umbrella and it was not because of her singing it was because of th beat. Rihanna should remember that if Jay didnt give her a chance she wouldn’t be ish today
