Rihanna looked so cute as she strolled through Perth International airport without her BFF Chris Brown. The two performed together in concert last night in Perth. I LOVE RiRi’s Louis Vuitton scarf and metallic gold sandals!

The 42nd Annual CMA Awards took place last night in Nashville, TN and guess who showed up dressed respectfully with his pants pulled up? Li’l Wayne shared the stage with rapper-turned-rocker Kid Rock who performed his hit “All Summer Long.” Wayne shows total disrespect towards his own community by exposing his boxers in concerts, but he wouldn’t dare disrespect that country music crowd. The consolation for us is that the country music crowd probably had no clue who that troll was.

Miley Cyrus wore a gorgeous carrot print dress to the 4nd Annual CMA Awards last night. Miley’s dad Billy Ray Cyrus was once the reigning king of country music before Miley was even born.

R&B crooner John Legend loaded up on goodies at the Grammy Awards gift lounge at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas yesterday.

Actress and co-host of The View, Whoopi Goldberg, attended a peaceful rally in NYC last night to protest the passing of Prop 8 in California. The protesters are hopeful that California’s Supreme court won’t ratify the amendment. Goldberg talked about gay lovers being unable to visit each other in sickness due to hospital rules that limit visitations to family members only. But I’ve never worked at a hospital that denied gay lovers the right to visit their loved ones once they explained who they were. I’m not for or against the measure, but the people of California have spoken and protesters should just deal with it.

You do think that you need the permission of the people to engage in something that is totally none of their business??? They don’t care what the people think of their marriage and they don’t need their permission nad teh gov’t giving them that was just irresponsible. I am so glad so many people are mad and protesting about this measure. Now the Obama is president, if it ever makes it to supreme court, it would be more likely that the Prop is slammed.

I agree with you Ms. Sandra. I don’t know how I feel about Prop 8, so I am happy I did not have to vote. But we live in a democracy and it was put to the people for a vote (I believe this is the second time). The people voted for it and that should be that. If it could have been challenged, why wasn’t it challenged before it was put on the ballot? Why wasn’t it challenged while people were out campaining for/against it? What has changed to make this proposition something that can be challenged in court?

I think challenging it will cause it to be an issue again and there may be more peole voting for it since they feel their last vote didn’t count. The whole issue is a mess and I am glad I do not live in California anymore.

I couldn’t be challenged. If there were enough signatures, it went straight to the ballot.

And like I said, you cares what the people of California think? The people in which this ordeal involves never needed their permission of seal of approval. The people wouln’t had desegragated schools in the 50s. They wouldn’t give blacks rights to vote. The people wouldn’t give any minority rights and you know it. So why did they need to vote for it? Meanwhile, family that was once protected and strenghtened are now weakened.

I don’t want to govern what someone else does in thier bedroom .. I don’t agree with that lifestyle .. but I don’t have the right to tell you how to live your life

just don’t cheapen or lessen the gay struggle to the Civil Rights struggle .. gays weren’t forced to alien country and then told they were 3/5’s Human .. then have a ACT that allows them the Right to vote which by the way has to be re-inacted ecery 20 or so years. Gay folk didn’t get the hose and dogs and lynched simply beacuse they were gay .. hell they could go back In the closet and close the friggin door .. Blacks didn’t have that luxury.

If I lived in Cali .. I wouldn’t have voted on the topic. it’s not for me to make that decision.

Adult men and women should have the right to marry another adult, man or woman, with all the attendant rights associated with it. It IS a Civil Right, even though it’s not equivalent to the struggle for equality that continues for black people.
It’s a shame that so many so-called people of faith would take it upon themselves to determine who someone else can love. Love thy neighbor. Judge not lest ye be judged.

Also, yes the “gay rights” struggle doesn’t exactly mirror that of the black struggle, but people have been murdered because they’ve were gay. Hitler also put gays to death in the holocaust because he thought they were inferior.

LGBT people deserve the same basic civil rights as someone else.

One more thing, regardless if you think it’s the same thing or not, i’m glad people kept fighting for interracial couples right to marry. It was very clear back then what a majority of people thought. Would you have told them to get over it?

I can not and will not equate the LGBT struggle with that of blacks. Especially after some of the things the GLBT community have been saying about black people, since it is our fault Prop 8 passed. They were real quick to get racial and make racial slurs since this Prop passed, so no I will not now nor will ever equate the GLBT struggle with that of blacks.

Should they have to hide that they are gay, no. Should they not be allowed to buy a house because they gay, no.. But it is a whole lot easier for them to hide who they are then it is for me to hide who I am.

Everybody talking about Prop 8 because there is more money behind those involved with the “No on 8” movement. My question is why is no one talking about the law that passed in Arkansas denying the right of adoption or foster parenting to any unmarried couple (gays are not allowed to marry in Arkansas).. That is the true issue that people should have their panties in a bunch over. There are thousand of kids who need good homes but in Arkansas they are so worried about gays adopting or fostering that they would rather have those children stay in whatever vile situation they are living in. I couldn’t care less about who has the right to marry to who in California or Arkansas, but these kids are the one ending up with the short end of the stick..

I don’t see any activist protesting that!!

Fenix: The LGBT community consists of black people and other minorities as well, so to blanket the entire community is foolish, just like it is foolish to blame black people for the passing of 8. There have been many people of the LGBT community (minority or not) that have spoken out about the racism that has come out of this. I will not submit to the Them Vs. Us situation that people are trying to stir up (Example: Bill O’reily is trying to stir the pot on a recent show of his)

As far as Arkansas, It is a shame and there are alot of people upset about that(Also mad about the same sex marriage bans that passed in other states). I think the thing is that people expect that from the south, so it’s no surprise, but people that didn’t really know CA are shocked that this could happen.

@ missnee…as I stated before I’m a Prop 8 supporter, not because I have a problem with anyone’s sexual preference…..and certainly not because I’m a religious fanatic….it was a personal, albeit, difficult choice. As I indicated before, I voted my conscience. I am the mother of a 9 yr old daughter. I’m not sure where you live, but I’m HERE, in Oakland, Ca. Born & raised in the Bay Area (sayin’ that to say, I’m pretty liberal)….while I don’t believe granting same sex couples the right to marry automatically equates to lawsuits for schools & churches….again I live here, the SUE ME state…and yes, when a teacher decides not to “address” same sex marriages (not teaching, because we all know teaching about marriage is not a part of the curriculum)…but just in telling a story that only references heterosexual couples….some child is going to go home to their same sex parents and say, “Well my teacher never talks about same sex couples.”….& there you have it a discrimination lawsuit….again I didn’t “buy into” the commercials BUT I do acknowledge that legalizing same sex marriages opens the door for thousands of discrimination lawsuits….cause I for one don’t want my child to be in a classroom that even discusses same sex marriages. She knows they exist, and she knows that she is free to love whomever she chooses (when she’s much older)….and my 9 year old is against Prop 8….and I probably would have been too, IF I WEREN’T A PARENT…..

I think that they should amend what a civil union is to encompass what they consider to be the difference between “marriage” and civil unions.

Gays can lose the battle but win the war if they stop trying to use the word “marriage”. I personally don’t care, but some folks are too nosey by half and want to be all up in the bed with gay folk.

I’m also trying to figure out what “teaching about gay marriage in school” means.

Are they going to start talking @nal plugs and creams, or what? I mean, how exactly do we as a society teach about heterosexual marriage? Heck, I don’t think we teach about marriage at all.

Now, if you’re going to talk about the makeup of our society, then naturally gay folks will be mentioned. So this idea that herosexuality can be skirted around is stupid.

I understand that you have concerns about what your child is taught in school and about possible lawsuits that you say may arise from gay people being allowed to be married, but that doesn’t seem to be a compelling enough argument on why we shouldn’t allow two consenting adults that happen to be of the same sex get married. And if you have a problem with something your child is being taught in school you should take it up with the school board, not a couple that has nothing to do with the education of your child.

You do have one thing over me, you are a parent. I however do not have children, but I will in the next few years. I can say without one ounce of my doubt in my mind that I would have no problem with my child being taught that gay marriage is as ok as straight marriage. I don’t believe being gay is wrong or a thing someone chooses, so I have no issues with my child being aware of that.

I was thinking the same thing about the marriage issue. If people want to get technical over a word, how about all marriages performed outside of a church w/o a priest (pastor, minister..whatev) be retitled civil union. No matter if you are straight or gay. While anything in a church is a marriage. Can’t believe we are arguing over a word here…

I still don’t understand why a religious ideal (that’s all it is) should have any say on what the government does. Shi i i i i e e t, if you were to walk into a church and have a ceremony it wouldn’t be legally binding if you didn’t file for a marriage license with the state prior to said ceremony.
