250,000 Doctors Oppose Obama’s Health Plan
As Barack Hussein Obama prepares to meet with the largest medical association in America on Monday, its doctors are already going on record opposing Obama’s national health plan.

As the health care debate heats up, the American Medical Association is letting Congress know that it will oppose creation of a government-sponsored insurance plan, which President Obama and many other Democrats see as an essential element of legislation to remake the health care system.
The American Medical Association (A.M.A.), with its 250,000 member doctors, is America’s largest physician organization. Without their approval, Obama’s health plan is dead in the water, so to speak.
Nurses that I’ve spoken with over the last 6 months also oppose the national health care plan (I’m a registered nurse). None of Obama’s grand plans have produced the expected results so far. His $800 billion stimulus bill is already an epic failure.
We nurses know that what Obama proposes will be a nightmare because we are the ones in the trenches! Why doesn’t the Obama administration focus on Medicare and Medicaid? Why not fix those ailing programs first?
Obama’s plan will drive private insurance companies like State Farm and Aflac out of business. Private insurance companies cover almost 70% of Americans. The insurance companies that survive will be at the mercy of Obama, Pelosi and the government.
Meaning, if you’re over 65 and you require hip surgery, that option will not be available to you under Obama’s health plan because it will be deemed too expensive. There is simply not enough money for what Obama proposes. And if doctors and nurses leave the field as they say they will, there won’t be any medical services either.

Most doctors in this country do NOT belong to the AMA…and private heatlhcare companies in this country NEED TO BE OUT OF BUSINESS!!!
Whenever you are in the BUSINESS of making money off of NOT SERVING SICK PEOPLE…than you are the DEBIL!!!
I have worked with doctors that were told by executives of the biggest health maintenance organization in this country that if they AGGRESSIVELY treated their patients (i.e., offer them treatment that would CURE them, yet was costly)…the doctors would be KICKED OUT OF THE NETWORK!!!
So private healthcare companies can KICK ROCKS…and so can the AMA!!!
And again…how is Obama’s stimulus plan an EPIC FAILURE?!?! It’s been less than 3 months since it was implemented…

You know Auntie…I thought this was ONE situation that you would be down with…my sister had private healthcare insurance…which cost damn near $300 dollars a month out of her pocket for JUST HER!!! When she came down with breast cancer…you know what her private healthcare insurance company told her…SHE WASN’T COVERED!!!
I hope you’re paid to write this…because private healthcare companies are responsible for more folks paying to die than damn near anything…
They felt the same way when Clinton was President. They want to keep getting richer and will fight anybody who tries to stop them. I don’t feel anybody in the “greatest and richest nation” to hear Fox news tell it should be w/o healthcare point blank simple!
People won’t get it until they are waiting over a year just for a check up. This nationalized healthcare is bad news for all of us.
The government can’t even run Amtrak and the Post Office right. Why in the WORLD would we want them in charge of our healthcare?
And who is going to pay for it? The Obama administration are already pushing a radical energy plan down our throats that will cost us trillions more.
For the life of me, I don’t understand why people can’t see the disaster that Obama is.
How Many docs approve? 70% percent are covered by private insurance because unless you live under the poverty line or are disabled thats the only choice. Do you know out to all the industrialized nations in the world the US and South America are the only coutries without a national health care service. I agree that a government national health care as it is is an imperfect idea but what do you suggest? Let the uninsured go without health care?
Lala, pls don not let Sandra get u worked up she likes dat. I too have been in the healthcare field for over 30 yrs working with both insurers and insurance co. State Farm and AFLAC, it’s surprising that she mentions two of the companies that get SUED the most by their insurers for failure to pay on claims telling peeps who you’re not covered under your plan when they fail to tell the seniors about this when they trick them into buying bogus plans. Sandra, u know dat 250,000 drs is a drop in da bucket compared to the millions out here who WANT this to work. KICK ROCKS TO THE 250,000 that’s in practice just to make money and don’t care about the peeps!!!!!
@Wiggy I agree something must be done nobody should be un insured. They don’t wait a yr in Canada and other countires for health services. If you don’t have ins. that should not stop you from getting treatment. Shoot for those w/ ins. the private companies will still find a way to screw you over. I worked for Cigna for a yr and BCBS for 6 I have seen it all before. Very sad
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe they’re rationing healthcare in Canada. There universal healthcare protocol seems to be working. I think by implementing this new universal healthcare plan doctors and hospitals will now have to compete by providing the BEST care. There will be more accountabilty, kind of like what the Section 8 program did for slumlords–made them clean up their acts if they wanted a tenant living in their rental units–afraid of missing an oppirtunity to lease to thier neighbors because vouchers were accepted virtually anywhere. Sandra, I know one thing, YOU’RE drinking the kool-aid now. Only your kool-aid is laced with sweet and low or equal and not the REAL sugar that makes it so sweet. You’ve gone overboard. I’m beginning to think that you agree with anyone who’s an antagonist of this nation’s President–baselessly. I love Rihanna, but I dont like every song she sings. I love Arianna Huffington, but I dont agree with everything she says either. My point is, if you’re going to support a cause or argument, let it be for something meaningful that makes sense. My daughter is an ovarian cancer survivor and our insurance tried to drop her once she was diagnosed … that got reversed real quick.
I do not agree with Obama’s healthcare plan. I am concerned about the quality of care under a nationalized plan. However, I’m not stressed because Obama flip-flops on everything … this will be no different.
Sandra, I think you speak intelligently to a lot of subjects and issues. However; whenever it comes to Obama…I have yet to see you make a positive remark. You were never this political while Bush was in office. With that said. I work for a Private HealthCare company…and they are all blood suckers. There is so much red tape…from pre-diagnosed clauses to the fine print BS that they never explain but always happens. Have of the private INS and providers are robbing the government as well with false reports and claims…u have providers that are prepaid a cap amount and report falsely to get more money.. Medicare and Medicaid is a rip off. Sending out salesmen to falsely represent policies. I can go on and on. F@$k a State Farm,AFLAC,WellCare,Humana, Aetna..etc. Its one of the few industries that’s recession proof, WHY?? cause treating people instead of curing them is big business.
and…lol Everyone is always stressing the quality of service for a national health plan…as if the level of service is performed at a hig level now. The only thing that gets you service…pardon me GREAT SERVICE… is MONEY. If yo don’t have it you don’t get it. DRUGS are big business for the U.S. wheter illegal/legal its all big business. This is why u will never see weed legalize… its to much money in the drug, the trafficking between the countries and of course our triving judicial system. They are all on the same team.

I agree with your #12 comment (didn’t read the other one — too long).
Even with insurance, I paid out the nose for prescriptions and the little extras for my daughter’s mental well-being and a successful prognosis. Quality healthcare is not cheap regardless of insurance. Even then, finding a doctor who actually gives a damn is rough too.

Try finding a doctor when health care is nationalized. We lost a bunch of doctors when HMOs took over in the 80s. The rest will leave under socialized health care. Nothing good can come out of a government-run health care system. Those with the money will be able to buy doctors appointments. The rest of us will have to wait months to see a good doctor!
SANDRA (AND I MEAN TO CAPITALIZE MY RESPONSE) CANADA seems to be working out just find. What have YOU heard? ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE RIP OFFS!!!! They are in it to make money, the practice is to deny your first request (like Social Security does) so u can appeal, hold up your surgery or whatever u request for a while and make u jump thru hoops for svc that u have actually pd for with your premiums. THIS IS A NO WINNING SITUATION DUE TO THEIR IS PROS AND CONS FOR BOTH SIDES. BUT SANDRA U WIN CUZ U ARE GETTING YOUR HITS TO YOUR SITE AND KEEPING THE DEBATES GOING.

But Health Care as it is today in the US is faaaaar from perfect. Millions of uninsured Americans is a travesty. I am not an RN but I worked for years as an LPN and I fail to see how being in the “trenches” makes ALL RN think this is a bad idea.
Secondly Medicare and Medicaid don’t send those reps out to folks homes the companys themselves do that.

And another question to ask is, why do u think physicians will run? It will be guaranteed payment and a lot less of a fight with the companies when they want to do a svc that the insurance peeps now think is experimental or as they use”Not Medically Necessary”. We lost a lot of physicians due to the paperwork that HMO’s make u go thru and the small amt that they are paid, that’s why physicians did not go with HMO’s, hell a lot of peeps do not like HMO’s today.Heck, peeps with money now get the BETTER svc so that won’t change.

Those with money now get the best healthcare, so what is the diffenrence.I have a great doctor now and I can call him today and get an appt today. So to me nothing will change, some ppl have to wait now for appts.

Are you opposed to the public healthcare system in England? Just curious.
We have a public healthcare system here in Canada (although it has been steadily moving towards a more public structure) and I have to say, it is one of the many things in the country I am grateful to have.
My brother hurt his foot in Toronto a couple weeks ago, playing basketball with friends. When he flew back home, his doctor said he broke his Achilles tendon and had to have surgery right away. They took him in the next day and he is resting up right now.
He just started his own business, so imagine if he had to pay tens of thousands out of pocket for this freak accident?? I cannot ever imagine that and neither can he.
I personally would rather pay highter taxes to have health insurance for all. Makes sense to me.
Our program is Government-run and it works fine. Yes, we have critics, but what agency doesn’t?? If you want to continue letting Capitalists running your health care system, good luck!
Also Sandra, my Brother’s GF and some of her friends are ALL RNs. One of them recently re-located to NYC to work as a Nurse there and she came home crying after 3 months. While she loves the City, She complained that the hospitals are complete chaos and the nurses are over-worked and over-stressed. She couldn’t wait to get back to Canada.

I totally agree with her about the working conditions at NY hospitals. I worked at one NY hospital as a traveling nurse because the hospital had difficulty filling nursing positions from the city of NY. They actually paid me three times a regular nurse’s salary just to work there. And that was back in the 80s!! So I can just imagine what it’s like now. Obama’s health plan will make the situation even worse.
The only reason drs would disagree to a Obamas plan is bc of the lack of money that will be paid out to the dr per claim. If the government takes over the healthcare system every dr and medical facility will be in an allowance plan. Of course the drs wont like that, they wanna get paid. Anything they bill over the allowance plan, the dr/facility will have to write off on the patients bahalf. That too much money to lose for them.
Privately owned insurances wouldnt be that bad if they actully hired well trained proffessionals to over see each claim instead of any dick and jane who just got outta high school and denies a claim bc they woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
@ Hermosa: That’s not true because doctors took a substantial pay cut when HMOs took over. Doctors spend 6-8 years of their lives in medical school. That’s the only reason why I chose not to go to medical school. Once they get out they have to go through residency program which is grueling! They are HIGHLY trained professionals. Therefore, doctors deserve what they are paid. The reason why the government taking over health care is wrong is because Medicare and Medicaid are so poorly run. The government has no business running health care and determining whether we live or die.

im on your side with this. i agree with your post. i know the course drs have to go through to become drs and their educaton and credidentials have to be up to date throughout their whole careers, nurses as well.
i work in the medical field i see the money that comes in for each patients claim. that check would be cut in half. and trust, the checks that come in from medicare/medicaid aint worth sh!t. if this country takes on obamas healthcare plan, the value of a well trained proffessional doctor and his staff will dramaticly decrease. and as if our shortage of nurses isnt low, there will be close to no nurse if this happens.
