Industry icons from Rolling Stone to Russell Simmons has heaped praise on Kanye West during his dramatic comeback. But not everyone is impressed with the emotionally disturbed rapper.
One of those people who isn't impressed, the legendary producer Quincy Jones, was rightfully insulted when US magazine tried to compare him -- a gifted musician and symphony orchestra conductor -- with Kanye West who plays on a drum machine all day.
Us: Kanye West is similar to you in that he's the producer everybody wants to work with in the last decade....
QJ: How man? No way. Did he write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man. He's just a rapper. There's no comparison. I'm not putting him down or making a judgement or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don't rap. It's not the same thing. A producer has to have some sort of skills that enable him to be a producer. It's totally different to know what to do with 16 woodwinds you know from piccolos down to bass clarinet. It's a whole different mindset. No comparison. None.
When asked what he thought of Kanye, the 77-year-old producer of Michael Jackson's Epic album Thriller, said, "I don't think about him much. He's a great rapper, but there are a lot of good rappers."
According to RadarOnline.com, singer Fantasia has admitted to aborting Antwaun Cook's baby.
RadarOnline, which is owned by The National Enquirer, quotes a source who says Fantasia was in court this morning where she admitted to aborting her lover's baby around the time of her failed suicide attempt.
The American Idol winner made the sensational confession in a North Carolina court on Monday during Cook’s divorce proceeding with his ex-wife Paula.
Facing questions before a Mecklenburg County Court judge, the famous singer, 26, was pressed on whether she knew Cook was living with Paula when they embarked on their illicit affair.
The Idol season three winner has acknowledged she dated Cook “off and on for about 11 months” but said she believed he had separated from his wife.
In court, lawyers for the scorned wife pressed Fantasia about a hotel rendezvous that took place just a few days after meeting one another.
“Paula’s lawyer is arguing that they got the room because she knew he was still married,” one onlooker – who was inside the court – told RadarOnline.com.
There were no reporters in the courtroom and witnesses were asked to leave as Fantasia took the stand.

Days before he reported back to prison, T.I. sat down with VIBE's Erik Parker and gave his most candid interview to date about his drug problem.
"If you rationalize putting yourself in harm's way, risking your well-being, your health, your freedom, your family's well-being and livelihood in order to be high, that's the rationale of an addict," he said.
T.I. also discussed his wife, Tameka Harris, who was arrested with him on September 1st in West Hollwyood and still faces a misdemeanor drug charge for ecstasy possession. But he denied any speculation that his wife, and mother of his kids, has drug addictions.
"She went with me to some meetings and counseling. She ain't got no problems," he said. "Her thing is she smokes. Smoking weed is different than taking pain pills. You can smoke weed today and not smoke another blunt for another three months."
T.I. also expressed his resentment at the way the feds handled his case after being arrested for possessing 3 ecstasy pills:
If you look at a guy who came up, no pops in the house, moms on welfare, food stamps; started selling dope when he was 12, 13 years old, came up handling guns, being in shoot-outs; started going to jail when he was 15. In all of this chaos and this mischief and lawlessness, the person who was just in jail for machine guns and silencers turns his life around. And now you want to crucify him ?for what? Three pills. I mean, of course it’s wrong and unacceptable and inexcusable. No problem. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s rather petty. It’s rather petty to hold someone’s feet to the fire for something so small when they have overcame things that were so big.
T.I. isn't letting prison walls prevent him from giving back to his community this Christmas. In addition to his annual Christmas block party and toy giveaways at Club Crucial, T.I. is reaching out to Sandrarose.com with a shopping spree worth thousands of dollars for the children of my readers! More info on that later.
Have you seen these disturbing photos of little children being undressed and fondled at the nation's busiest airports? What's going on here? Is this what you elected Barack Obama to do? Welcome to George Orwell’s 1984.
In Orwell’s classic novel 1984 (published in 1949), he described in eerie detail a future government (led by the almighty Big Brother) that would strip away the rights of average citizens in order to bring them under complete control.
Who knew Big Brother would turn out to be an actual brother?
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has a new pat-down procedure that involves a security worker running a hand up the inside of passengers' legs and along the cheek of the buttocks, as well as making direct contact with the groin area. Passengers -- including children and babies -- are pat down by the same-sex security employees.
Travelers have the option of being pat down or walking through a full-body scanner, which shows their full anatomy to an operator in a private room. Travelers who refuse either option are subject to arrest and a fine of $11,000.
The open job spots for airport screeners are certain to draw out the pedophiles in our midst. There's no word on if applications submitted for airport screeners have increased recently.
Award winning singer, songwriter and actress Jill Scott was seen vacationing with her son, Jett Hamilton Roberts, 1, in Hawaii over the weekend. No man was in sight. The baby's daddy is promiscuous drummer Lil John. The two called it quits soon after their son was born. It appears that Scott has wisely decided to leave the men alone and just concentrate on being a good mother to her son.
The 38-year-old single mom recently performed on BET's Black Girls Rock extravaganza. Her next gig will be in her hometown of Philadelphia where she will host the second Blues Babe Foundation fundraiser and silent auction. Blues Babe, named for Scott’s grandmother, was launched in 2002 to help students in impoverished communities by providing programs that promote leadership and academic excellence.

Do you think Beyonce or Rihanna are the #1 female singers in the world? Wrong. UK's Susan Boyle is the most popular female singer on the planet. Last week, Boyle became the first female singer ever to have a number 1 album on both the UK and US charts simultaneously! This is a historic achievement for a woman who was unknown until she won last year's Britain's Got Talent contest.
The 49-year-old's Christmas album, The Gift, topped the charts last week with over 500k in 1st week sales. Boyle beat out both Rihanna (#3) and young Jackie Evancho (#2), also of Britain's Got Talent fame.
Her debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, topped the charts in America and the UK last year. SuBo was greeted by a small group of hard core fans -- both black and white -- as she arrived at JFK International Airport in New York City today. Britain's Got Talent host Simon Cowell said: "I'm thrilled for Susan, she has once again defied the odds. She is my superwoman." Congrats to her! Photos: Thornton/INFphoto.com
Rapper Nicki Minaj performed and signed boobs at Pinnacle Nightclub and Luxe Lounge in Philadelphia over the weekend. Nicki's debut album, Pink Friday, drops today. What was going through Jada Pinkett-Smith's head when she allowed her prepubescent daughter to walk the red carpet at the AMAs in this dreadful outfit last night?!? Is everyone forgetting that this little girl is only 10-years-old? I am appalled at the people who think dressing children like this is cute. No wonder the birth rate among pre-teens and teens is through the roof!
It's the morning after a big awards show, so you know what that means: if you're looking for extensive coverage of the tired performances, don't bother looking on this blog. Every blog in the universe has provided coverage of the American Music Awards.
For instance, Toya has posted most of the performances from last night. Also, my nephews over at ThatGrapeJuice.net has additional coverage for those of you who missed the show.
Loyal reader Marie S. shares my sentiments about these wack awards shows and the lame artists today who don't have a creative bone in their bodies.
Hey Sandra, I don't know if u watched the AMA's last nite but I wish I didn't. And forgive me because I'm about to rant. But I'm sick of artist like usher, ne-yo and justin bieber copying Michael Jackson's moves. Justin tried his best to do a man in the mirror like performance along with swagger jacking MJ's armband. Will. I. Am has even jacked MJ's armband. And usher and ne-yo always steal MJ's moves. Theses artist are nothing more then Michael Jackson impersonator's. Nobody can find their own way without biting MJ's style. And twitter was going off last nite about it.
Over the weekend NBA star Carmelo Anthony launched his own high priced 'revolutionary' basketball shoe that will put him on par with LeBron and Kobe's brands. The Jordan Melo M7, designed by Jordan Brand, has a one-piece upper made of patent leather with a pearlescent finish. The shoe retails for $130 and is available now at select sportswear stores.
Loyal reader Michelle M. writes:
Over the weekend Carmelo Anthony hosted a small gathering in Denver to celebrate the release of his new sneaker the M7. Here are some pics. Love La La and Carmelo! La La's dress is HOT! I love! She looks great Also at the party were all of Melo's teammates including Al Harrington who is in a picture with him.
According to a loyal reader who asked to remain anonymous, the PETA folks are outraged after seeing pictures of troubled singer chris brown modeling his custom mink backpack at US Weekly's 'Stars Who Care' event in LA last night.
"Imagine how many minks they slaughtered so he could look stylish!," wrote my reader, who is a member of PETA. She said she also emailed these pictures of a smiling brown to other PETA members.
According to Answers.com, the American mink is an endangered species.
But the chris brown news isn't all bad. Yesterday, brown was commended and praised by the judge overseeing his domestic abuse case. Judge Patricia Schnegg heaped praise on brown during a brief probation hearing Thursday in a Los Angeles courtroom.
"Out of thousands of probationers, no one has done a better or more consistent job than you have, and I really want to commend you for taking responsibility and for actually working diligently to complete all the things the court has required of you," Schnegg told brown who stood smirking at her.
She added: "I know that you will finish your domestic violence counseling program in just seven more sessions, which is excellent."
brown has completed almost 73 days of his 180 days of community labor, which he's serving in his home state of Virginia. brown was convicted of brutally assaulting his former girlfriend Rihanna on Feb. 8, 2009. He was sentenced in August 2009 to five years' probation in addition to the community service.
