While hip hop stars Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz performed at the NBA’s first ever NBA awards in NYC, LaVar Ball upstaged the awards show from across the country on Monday.

The 48-year-old retired football player proved he is a master at promotion as he stripped off his shirt to take on wrestler The Miz at WWE Raw at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

As expected, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Lonzo Ball with the #2 pick in the 2017 NBA draft on Thursday. Lonzo posed on stage with NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

The 19-year-old 6’6” point guard averaged 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6 rebounds per game in his lone season at UCLA. He also set a single-season record with 274 assists.

Former UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball and his father LaVar Ball paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! TV studios in Los Angeles on Monday. The 20-year-old and his equally talented brothers LaMelo Ball, 15, and LiAngelo Ball, 18, arrived bearing gifts — a pair of unreleased Big Baller Brand sneakers for Kimmel.

LaVar Ball is one of those annoying sports dads who lives vicariously through their more talented children.

Ball, 48, is the father of UCLA Bruins freshman star Lonzo Ball (pictured above) and Chino Hills (Calif.) High School standouts LiAngelo Ball and LaMelo Ball, a sophomore who recently scored 92 points in one game.
