Convicted killer Michael Dunn was found guilty of 1st degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis during a retrial in a Florida courtroom today.
Dunn was found guilty of 4 out of 5 counts against him in the first trial in February. But that jury could not agree on the most serious charge — first degree murder.
The 12-member jury for Dunn’s retrial deliberated just 4.5 hours before finding him guilty of first degree murder.
The new jury was made up of seven white men, three white women, a black man and a black woman.
After shooting Davis in an SUV outside a convenience store in Jacksonville in 2012, Dunn and his wife returned to their hotel room where he ordered pizza and they drank cocktails.
Dunn said he didn’t call 911 right away because his wife was hysterical and she needed to rest.
Dunn told investigators he drove back home to Satellite Beach because he wanted to talk to a more familiar face on the police department there rather than face law enforcement in Jacksonville.
Dunn faces at least 60 years in prison. He is awaiting sentencing.
