Tory Lanez‘s preacher father says his son has forgiven fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. In a video on Instagram, Sonstar Peterson said Tory, real name Daystar Peterson, forgave Megan following his conviction for shooting her in both feet.

A jury convicted Tory on all charges for shooting Megan in a drunken rage after attending a private party at Kylie Jenner‘s Calabasas house on July 12, 2020.

Sonstar reacted angrily to his son’s conviction last month. He railed against the justice system, and accused the jury of racism. But he had a different message on Thursday.

In his 40-minute sermon on Thursday, Sonstar Peterson said both he and Tory forgave Megan a “long time ago” for reporting Tory to the police after she was shot.

“This might come as a shock to many of you, but guess what? Both my son, myself and others of our family have long decided that we are not going to hold any animosity against Megan Pete a.k.a. Megan Thee Stallion. We forgave that girl a long time ago. A long time ago.”

He continued: “We know that the principle of forgiveness is important in order to cleanse one’s heart, to cleanse one’s soul and to not be bound up with hatred. Hatred, resentment, bitterness — those things can actually diseases of the bones, it has been proven. And it can cause sickness in your body because you’re holding onto something that is negative against the real life force in your life.”

Tory faces more than 22 years in prison when he is sentenced in February.
