Antonio “AJ” Armstrong, Jr., the son of former NFL star Antonio Armstrong, was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole for fatally shooting his parents when he was 16.

Armstrong, 23, was found guilty on Wednesday following two mistrials, according to DailyMail.com. He showed no emotion when the guilty verdict was read.

When the judge asked if he had anything to say before she pronounced sentence, he replied, “No, ma’am.”

Armstrong is accused of killing his NFL star dad Antonio Armstrong and his mother, Dawn, both 42, as they slept in their Bellaire-area home in 2016. The coroner’s report revealed they were both shot in the head and pillows were covering their faces.

A search of the home in 2016 turned up 2 bullet-riddled pillows and a crack pipe in Armstrong’s bedroom.

Armstrong was out on bond while awaiting trial. He wore an ankle monitor for his entire adult life.

Armstrong’s attorney insists he is innocent and an appeal has already been filed, DailyMail.com reports.

Armstrong is pictured in court with his wife Kate Ober in 2019. Armstrong was entering his junior year in high school when he was arrested and charged with his parents’ murders.

His attorney tried to pin the murders on Armstrong’s half brother who did not live in the home.

Armstrong’s wife ran out of the courtroom in tears after the verdict was announced. The two met in high school and have a minor son together.

“His family is amazing, and obviously they are devastated right now but they will rally and they will help AJ and his wife and his young son,” Armstrong’s attorney Rick Detoto told reporters.
