Damian Lillard’s estranged wife, Kay’La Hanson, filed a response to his divorce petition, seeking sole custody of their three children.

Damian reportedly booted Kay’La out of their Portland home in October 2022 after he learned she was cheating on him with an NFL player.

The children, a 5-year-old son and 2-year-old twins, stayed with him.

Damian filed for divorce on Oct. 2, citing the standard “irreconcilable differences.” He is also seeking sole custody of his kids. The children relocated with him to Milwaukee, where they stay with nannies while he practices with the team.

But Kay’La says that’s no life for three small children.

“It is in the children’s best interests that I be awarded sole custody. I am best positioned to address the ongoing needs of our minor children. I have been responsible for the children’s care since their birth,” she wrote in a declaration filed on October 6 and obtained by RadarOnline.com.

Kay’La said the Milwaukee Bucks star guard has “never been the sole parent responsible for the care of all three of our children, for any hours-long period of time without the help of nannies, assistants, and/or family members.”

She addressed his recent move to Wisconsin with their children.

“Father has recently relocated to Wisconsin to play for the Milwaukee Bucks,” she wrote, adding that his team’s upcoming schedule is proof he’s too busy to handle sole custody of his children.

But photos published in publications and on social media shows Damian is a doting dad who is never far from his children – except when he’s working.

Kay’La acknowledged it’s unrealistic to expect a working father to be with his children 24 hours a day.

“I understand he is busy and has many commitments he must attend to. I also understand that the brand ‘Damian Lillard’ needs to continue with an image of a family-man. Despite our separation for several months, I have continued to support that image to the public.”

Damian wants Kay’La to drop his last name and pay her own attorney’s fees, per their prenuptial agreement.
