Rapper Trick Daddy was arrested on DUI and cocaine possession charges in Miami, Florida early Saturday.
According to an arrest affidavit, Trick Daddy, 45, was taken into custody by a Miami-Dade police officer responding to a report of a driver running red lights and hitting street signs in a Range Rover.
When the officer approached the driver’s side, he noticed the driver “appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.”
The cop awakened the driver by banging on the car window. The man, identified by his driver’s license as Maurice Samuel Young, told the officer he had left a nightclub in Miami Gardens.
The affidavit stated that Young told the officer he had about five drinks before he left the club and that he was dropping someone off before heading home.
The cop noted Young’s slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.
Young failed a field sobriety test, which he did not complete, according to the affidavit.
A search of his belongings at the Hammocks District Station on 142nd Avenue yielded a small amount of cocaine inside a dollar bill.
The “Take It to da House” rapper was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence.
He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional center around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Yahoo News.
His bond was set at $5,000 on the cocaine possession charge and $1,000 on the DUI charge, according to Yahoo News.
Trick Daddy, a native of Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood, is best known for his hit song “Naan Nigga”, featuring Miami rapper Trina (1998). They currently appear in the VH1 reality TV series Love and Hip-Hop: Miami.
