FanMAIL: The debate over Tyra’s real hair rages on
Yesterday, I received a number of angry emails from loyal (and some not so loyal) readers who questioned my lack of visual acuity since I couldn’t see that talk show diva Tyra Banks was wearing a wig or lacefront in this post.
They all claimed to be experts on weave, quick weave and lacefronts, and they offered clues, tips and pointers on spotting even the very best weave money can buy.
According to loyal reader Shaynamorre, Tyra is wearing an invisi wig:
Uh uh, Sandra you are too smart to put up something like the Tyra Banks picture. I do hair, Tyra does not have a weave in her hair she’s wearing a wig! like she’s been wearing since she’s started her talk show. Those type of wigs are called invisi wigs and are great for cancer patients and people who have alopecia or other hair loss problems because as you can see it looks very natural because of it’s ability to let the scalp show through.
The easiest way to tell is just by looking at the amount of hair in the front. No one’s natural hair line is that full in the front unless they have a straight hairline (if they do they don’t have baby hairs) or they have a hairline that looks like it’s coming from their forehead. And with the color it just wouldn’t look like that. Look at a picture from her in the black and white video by Michael Jackson and you will see her real hairline there.
And if you were joking than never mind.
I respectfully disagree. It’s always the weave wearers who come down hardest on sistahs with naturally long hair.
If Tyra is wearing a wig, then Beyonce needs to holla at her wig maker so she can look halfway decent for a change! Tyra vowed to wear her own hair during the premiere of her show. And since she taped a segment of her show yesterday then we can all assume that she’s wearing her real hair.
I reached out to Tyra’s people to get a statement from Tyra that will settle this debate once and for all.

That hair is in no way, shape or form growing out of Tyra’s head. And I do NOT wear weave so I’m not hating. Just stating the obvious

3/4′s of the way down….you can see those front pieces are hers. But the rest of that is not! Her hair isnt even shoulder length. Call it hating…going hard, WHATEVER! That’s not hers…
But I will say….Tyra’s HAIR IS ALWAYS THE DAMN BIZ! Wigs, Lacefronts, Weaves, Fusion…all of that. Her hair stylist is AMAZING!
she prolly DID tape some of the coming out show but who is to say it was not the “before” segment? i mean really. that is NOT that chick’s hair.
not that i think she is totally bald or anything cause when she was in “higher learning” that really WAS her hair and it was pretty long….and she had some. granted that movie was 15 years ago and it might all done got ate up by now but i doubt it….

Get the hell over it…anytime you wear sow ins, or wigs for years and years you can grow out thick long hair…plenty of my own customers gets sows ins and have LONG thick hair of their own, but they want to wear a bunch of cut up layers and they don’t want to cut their own hair…SMH….is it really THAT hard to believe??
I’m with Shaynamorre, nobody’s hair grows that thick in the front. Even IF Tyra responds it still will not ‘settle’ the debate. Did anyone really think Tyra would show her real hair.
Furthermore it’s not that the weave wearers are coming down on her it’s that the weave wearers know weave!

Again Tyra NEVER said that was her hair in this pic that is Sandra being MESSY! Tyra said she would wear her OWN HAIR on her TV show next month.

@Krysi J Yes some wigs do have gray hair mixed in here and there so the gray means nothing.
Daisy…Tyra’s hair has never looked “A HOT mess” on ANTM! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I have never missed a season. Oeverall, I think Tyra is one of the most consistent as far as hair goes.
I dont recall it looking a mess at the BET Awards either…but I’m sure I wasnt paying attention during the show.
I initially thought it was a really good weave, but now that you have posted an even closer pic I too think it is an absolutely fabulous wig. Like the weave I see no problem with it. I only have a problem when a wig or weave look totally unnatural. Tyra is running thangs in the wig department. I don’t even think Rue Paul can mess with her. Go Tyra!

I watch Top Model as well(use to anyway) and have talked about her head a time or two lol Her hair has been on POINT(loved when it was red) and it has been a hot mess as well to me anyway. Tyra looked a mess hair and clothes wise at the BET awards lol She did work the stage walking out though

i personally dont think thats grey hairs. IF THATS HER HAIR then her dye job is on point. she wouldnt dare let one strand of hair be left grey.. refuse to believe it. also tyra is what 37? and has a whole patch of grey hair coming already? rare.

I thought for some reason she was going to “unveil” her real hair. If this is the pic of that day, then I have to agree with most that this is not her real hair at all. My hair is natural and long and my hairline is not like that. And thats the widest part Ive ever seen… She need to stop lying smh!
I dont know what kind of hair that is, all i know is that is not her hair!!!!
There’s got to be something more important about Tyra to talk about other than the obvious hair piece on her head, what about her lashes, those look real.

Sorry you are being called a liar when you never said this was your real hair in the above pic. I will wait until the new season of your show premieres to see what your real hair looks like because that is when YOU said you would reveal your OWN hair.

As a LICENSED COSMETOLOGIST I am telling you that this ABSOLUTELY without a DOUBT a type of lacefront wig. I always knew Tyra was psycho.
