Tyra Lets Her Real Hair Hang Out
Talk Show Diva Tyra Banks let her real hair hang out during an outdoor taping of her show in Chelsea today. Earlier this week, Tyra Twittered her pledge to shed her “slave hair” and embrace her real hair on the Sept. 8 premiere of her show.
No fake hair at all! Will be the hair coming out of my scalp! 4 all 2 C!
“No ponytails, no ballet bun hair. hair will be out and free!
“I have had every color weave in the book. even KOOL-AID red!!!”
Tyra challenged other sistahs to join her in saying no to weave. But that’s going to be difficult for some women to accomplish. Women are such slaves to their weave because they believe men value synthetic hair over natural hair. It matters not to some chicks that we can spot a weave job from a mile away.

Who was taking these pics in the posts today? Everyones image looks “widened”. Tyra’s fivehead is big enough no need for a bad pic. also is this pic above her getting ready to find women to take out their weaves on tv like they took off their makeup(she has money in and hand and looks like that is what enticed volunteers to accept looking a hot mess when this airs).
but due to rising cost of Hair, alot of females are going natural. i want too but dont have patience for the upkeep. ah well

Hello All. With such beautiful “natural” hair, why would Tyra even wear weaves? Just doesn’t make sense, unless of course, this ain’t her hare either? No one ever knows what’s real in Hollywood. (Hollywood if Holly could– one of my husband’s favorites!)
I’m sorry but I do think that’s weave. I know not every woman wears weave and although I believe Oprah’s hair is real, Tyra’s above is not.

@ Spongebob – once you find the products that go with your natural texture, the upkeep is not difficult on natural hair. I’m wearing a weave right now, but my hair is natural. No chems since October 2007.
That aint her real hair! even phyto products cant make your hair that dang gon straight. I have been a natural since last december its been hard, but with the right products ive been able to manage my hair, but right now im wearing a weave because its blazin hot in dallas, and I wouldnt dare wear my natural hair out unless its cool n breezy!
And sandra I guess that means ur a slave to the weave too, because dont you stil have you sew-in whoomp! whoomp!

Her “scalp” almost matches her face – that never happens unless you wear the same part ALL the time…I wear my natural hair, but I change the color and when it gets hot I pin it up. Maybe these are the before pics – I can’t imagine she would come outside and ruin the surprise…
It looks real to me, fried dyed and laid to the side, clipped, and layered but hers all the same. Tyra had long hair on “Higher Learning”, and I know natural hair…that was definitely HER hair on the movie, and it looks similar (straight), but it was a dull brown color, probably the one she was born with. I think her hair looks fake here, because its very professionally done…especially the highlights…somebody is the SHYT on that cap baby…but if you look at her ends the appear to be real, and recently clipped. Her hair was probably MUCH longer, but they had to cut it up for it to look full and thick like the weave she is used to. This may be hard for some of you who have never had HEALTHY hair to believe, but our hair looks very similar to a wig or weave when its in a healthy state…..I guess thats why people purchase “Human hair” in the first place.
Her scalp matches her face because she has on piles of makeup that is more than likely lighter than her own skin….I guess that should be the next thing to go Tyra.
Sandra why you acting like u don’t wear weave I swear we women live under a microscope. Why can’t we just be great weave and all does it matter
@ Mizz Dallas – my weave is hot as hell in this Texas heat! lol My natural is much lighter, but it’s fairly short too – you must have that good thick hair!

I don’t get the big hoopla. Never wore a weave…never will. I don’t think the hair thing has anything to do with men. Most real men don’t care if ur natural, or relax…they care more that u take care of it than anything else.
some people hair just won’t be long. Thats just the way it is. Some blk women need to not concentrate on getting their hair, but on getting their hair healthy. like i said, i don’t know much about weaves, but the constant wearing of a weave can’t be healthy for the hair. Tyra doesn’t count cuz she has $$$
Someone flat ironed the $hit out of her hair. It will not look like that tomorrow, unless she adds more heat which will eventually damage it and back to the weaves she will run.
cant wait to see chris rock’s “good hair”. i think its her hair. my hair grows fast becuz i dont put heat on it and my hair works best dirty. however, now that im short n sassy I LOVE IT!! i’d love to let the perm grow out and go straight natural (i dream of curly waves like joan from girlfriends) but i know i dont have the patience for the middle stage and im NOT droppin $100 plus to upkeep a weave. i barely like to spend 150 for braids every 3 months!

@sponge….yes real hair CAN look like that. I use to go to this salon called Yehia’s in Chicago for about 7 years and my hair was blown out every week and wrapped around and it was as straight if not straighter than silky weave…lol
Yehias or Shawys in the Chi was the to go. Girls knew that you’d been to one of those shops based on your blow out.
Im more interested in that stack of money in her hands. I doubt this is the picture from the show today. Nor do I think that’s her real hair. it’s too raised at the roots to me.

If she ties or wraps her hair or even sleeps on a silk pillow it can still look like that tomorrow or better if she puts some more sheen/oil on it. I think with her forehead that she should try to part her hair on the side and not straight down the middle.
This is not flat ironed hair, this is straight weave! If her hair was flat ironed that straight, why is there so much bulk there? I believe Trya has the best of intentions and was going to rock it natural, but when she took off the wig, she realizes she was bald headed and decided to wear a weave rather than scare her audience & fans.
I don’t care if she robs Seabiscuit at night and rocks his mane in the morning, it’s her damn style choice. What I do have a problem with is passing of bought hair as scalp grown.

This doesn’t look like Tyra’s own hair to me, but if it is her own hair — good for her. I’m tired of folks knocking those who wear weaves or extensions. Everyone is entitled to wear his/her hair however they want.
I have never worn a weave and don’t think women who do wear them wear weaves/extensions because of men. I think they want versatility which weaves and extensions allow them to have. As starr, #19, wrote: Most real men don’t care if ur natural, or relax…they care more that u take care of it than anything else.” Women are the ones who are obsessed with hair NOT men.
and fyi jessica white was a straight beeeotch on the t.o. show. his friends aint know who she was and jessica was like “who do i model for…google me” BYYYYTCH PLEASE!

I scrolled back up and noticed the freckles. When you put so much makeup on you can’t see any freckles on anybody. Morris Day has freckles. I too am happy to be nappy. My dads white gf thinks I put a perm in my hair(just curly locks). The word “perm” to me = a relaxer(straigtner). Not all men like/love long hair, weave real or other wise.

@Mason I wore 2 strand twist and a press(not often cause I am gym rat) before I started my locs 3yrs ago. I started my locs via 2 strand twist thats why they are so long already. I did not cut all my hair off and start my locs but sometimes I wish I did. I have had short hair/shaved in the back short do in high school my mama cried when I came home w/o my hair lol
the hair from the roots look bonded in a micro way. But it may be hers in the movie Higher Learning she wore a pony tail in some scenes that was the length of hair hair she is sporting now. But it does look like Remy mixed with yaki permed mixed color.

I know it’s late but thought I read a comment “that if she stole the horse hair in the middle of the night it’s her hair”. If we all read all the comments, we all will lose weight and our stomaches will reduce out of laughter, that is what happened to me. If you purchase /buy hair it is yours. I don’t have a weave nor ever had one. I don’t care who has one. I am glad that when I run my hands thourgh my hubbys hair it’s not a hair piece/toupee/ rug, but something may or may not be there. Hubby can be “scruffy today but gone tomorrow. He gets his hair cut every two weeks.

In these pics Tyra appears to be wearing the best weave she’s ever gotten. It looks very natural. I don’t know why that has to be a bad thing. I like it. It also looks like Miss Tyra is in fact working with quite a bit of natural length much like Beyonce, Aaliyah and Janet. The fact remains, she is wearing a weave. We’ve seen Tyra’s natural hair many times. It’s not that thick.
I’d like her to do a show on why she’s obsessed with that dang “baby hair”. I’d watch that one.
I’m sorry, this is one of the baddest weaves money can buy. I have natural hair and when it’s blown out it looks like that minus the baby hair.

I am a slave to wigs. In, July, I did make the decision to go natural and stick to it..went to the salon..she wacked all my hair off, and it was a BEAUTIFUL style.
After getting home, my husband was excited that he could finally see me natural. I even went through a ritual to take all my wigs and cut them up so I wouldnt’ be tempted. I did save ONE, for the “just in case”.
Everyone was happy! Two days later, I realize that I would never own curlers that tiny to keep those curls up, so there I am in the salon, getting my hair done every week.
I lasted two weeks, until I woke up at 7:30 a.m. to be at work at 8:00 a.m. and realized my scarf fell off in the middle of the night and one side of my curls were pressed to my face, while the other side was still pretty…………….that was the day I thanked God for my short cut wig sitting on my dresser laughing at me.
Call it slavery, I call it salvation.
