White Writer Calls Beyonce ‘A Sell Out To Her People’
As you know, former Destiny’s Child singer Beyonce, made history when she won 6 Grammy’s last weekend. But the next day, all the media could talk about was Taylor Swift’s 4 Grammy wins which prompted Bey’s sister Solange to go on a Twitter rant criticizing the media.
Well, one media outlet struck back, although not directly at Solange.
An Irish journalist referred to Beyonce as a “sell out to her people” in an article published today. The writer for the Irish Independent, who describes himself as “a white, 30-something Irish bloke,” wrote, “in fairness, some of her songs are infuriatingly catchy, [but] let’s get real — we’re not exactly talking about Ella Fitzgerald here.”
Ouch!
It’s been apparent for some time now that Beyonce’s star is fading. Bey’s camp began feeling the heat as more and more mainstream blogs called for her to step away from the light. Beyonce seemed to concede to their demands when she announced she would take a break from the industry last month. But we’re still waiting for her to leave.

I too want to know what a sell out is, is it because her music is main stream and not just for black ppl. How many artist have to cross over in order to sell records? When Shania Twain first came out she was only country, she crossed over and it only helped her career.

Synopsis: He (a white guy from Ireland) is saying that Beyonce is a sellout because a Black woman (not sure of her nationality) said what I quoted above…in #21.
It’s another Black woman blaming another Black woman for her self-esteem issues.

When someone has such a big influence like a lot of these celebs, it is there job to be careful how they influence…Now when there are 5th grade girls killing themselves bcuz they think they need to look like Bey in order to be pretty..Who do we blame..The parents? Bey, Rhi, are everywhere we cant block our kids from seeing it, every store magazine in the FRONT, commercials, awards, talk shows, sesame street,cartoons cereal boxes,walmart advertisements, billboards,c etc…

I’m not necessarily a Beyonce fan, but I do admire her. She’s a black woman who has risen from DC to being the biggest, most successful female singer of our day. I’m proud of this sister. Who would’ve thought when she was on Star Search that she would rise to such success. After watching, “Beyonce Revealed,” I gained a new level of respect for her even though her music isn’t always to my liking (I like more of her old school music).
Oversaturated? Yep, but as long as people wanna see her, she’ll continue to be on scene.

Beyonce is successful at what she does but I’m sorry like someone else said no one is checking for Bootylicious or Single Ladies twenty years from now. No substance in that. ITs hard to understand because, the people you think are haters are really fans gon NUMB to everything she does…I like Beyonce, used to love her to death when she got regular promo, and worked hard, and earned every performance (instead of being forced infront of us to sing Santa maria or whatever as a tribute to who hun? not MJ) She was the underdog and we wanted to see her on top, because even though we loved Destiny’s child we were Crazy In Love after she dropped that first solo CD! Then it went from harmless heavy rotation to heavy rotation of shyt we didn’t even like for example “Deja Vu” I know I ain the only one who didn’t get why she dropped that as a lead single at ALL…and I got tired of hearing it—but I hung in there, saw her MURDER a “Deja Vu” performance on BET, and I was back to digging her mission…didn’t like the album, but I brought it in support anyway (cuz she’s a fellow virgo too!) Then she dropped videos for every song, performed at every award show even though her album had dropped a YEAR ago, she kept revising the songs, rereleasing the LP, I guess to make up the so so sales…and thats when she started to lose value…they did this the ENTIRE TIME for at LEAST 2 years before she dropped “I am Sasha Fierce”…..so we’re back to excessive record play with SINGLE LADIES….and the same ol repeat strategy….I miss the music I used to love hear her sing but when she drop and I get my hopes up….I get forced to listen to something I can’t STAND?? I want her to chill and I want her to support her again! #noshade truthfully.

You cant speak on what a song will mean to other people 20 years from now. I know when I am old I will be acting ignant at the family reunion if “Get me bodied” comes on. (hopefully embarrassing the hell out of my grandkids) I will always smile when I hear “Daddy”, and I will do the “uh oh” booty dance to DIL until I need hip replacement..lol A song doesnt have to talk about pain and heartbreak to mean something. Some of my all time favorite songs make me smile not cry. But hey,thats just me…….

I was a fan in the beginning. I got her first solo CD and that was the last album of hers I bought. I think after she used up all the DC songs, she began her side job of jacking songs from innocent folks that were trying to get put on, and it showed in the other CDs. She is OVER-EXPOSED! I’m tired of seeing and hearing her everywhere I go. GAT DA.MN!! I completely agree with my girl Chelsey, “Take a break BI.TCH!” And I mean a long break. Disappear for a couple years, not just 6 months.

@outsidethebox: I don’t know what she should do differently, but being that she has so much influence on the young girls of today, maybe she needs to reach out by addressing some real issues that they face..and how these young girls want what she has not understanding the reality of her career. Maybe people wont be so tired of Bey if she does something that seems human and not so mechanic.. That is her responsiblity as a celeb…And not just her but all these entertainers that OUR FUTURE GENERATION (kids) looks up to. I agree…she is an EXCELLENT entertainer, but most of her songs are nothing special. As he has stated they can DEF be catchy at times but 6 grammies worthy? They are not……I think that gets over looked because she works so hard on the stage and because she has certain people backing her…
